This museum is situated out of the main tourist centre of Bath and is contained in an old chapel. The receptionist was very helpful and directed me to the start of the exhibition. The museum is slightly old fashioned and contains a lot of exhibits in cabinets which are not always well lit. (There was a superb model of a house in Great Pultney Street but the exhibit wasn't lit!) There was a large model of the city again poorly lit, which could have done with some interactive facilities to hightlight buidlings, etc.
There was a small section on wartime bomb damage but little or nothing about post- war development and why so many building weren't restored to their former splendour.

Thanks for your review and feedback. We've actually reopened the museum after a period of closure. This years reopening is so that visitors can see the museum in it's current format, whilst we collect feedback on what our visitors would like to see and how they think we should use the space, as part of a consultation process. The plan is then to close again for capital works, so watch this space!

This museum offers a compact overview of Bath's architectural history. It nicely integrates several video films, maps, and a huge 3D model of the city to make its presentation attractive. Signage is succinct and easily readable.
The museum is keen to get feedback to this project under work. My simple reflections are that it would be interesting to extend the timeline. Little is said about city architecture after WWII. For non-UK residents it would also be helpful to provide some more context. Not all foreigners will immediately associate the "Victorian era" with 1837-1901, and so forth. Make sure to include explanations of technical terms for the non-specialists, if your ambition is to reach them.

Small but very interesting museum. Shows detail on how the multi storey buildings in Bath were constructed. Views of underground vaults built to raise the city streets. Great variety of tools and displays of construction methods. A great place to visit after touring Crescent home #1.

We were warmly welcomed by the helpful Charlotte, who was extremely helpful, and who explained how to get the most from our visit.
The exhibits were well laid out with thoughtful information boards. The museum has recently re-opened and helps visitoes and locals alike understand and appreciate the development of Bath. Well worth a visit.

The museum is lodged in a repurposed Methodist Chapel, which is interesting in itself. The compact space is filled with every aspect of the design and construction of Georgian buildings. Using videos, tools, diagrams, prints, and physical examples, it takes you through how the 18th Century builders did their work, from site preparation to roofing and decoration. As a housing economist, I found it a fascinating look at what went into constructing these units. At the back of the museum is a three-dimensional map of Bath in the 18th Century. The small shop area includes technical books and period prints.

A small but interesting museum, with friendly volunteers. The maps of how Bath has grown make you stop and think.

A little out the way and off the main areas of Bath is this museum. As I am in the construction industry and have an interest in architecture we decided to pop in. The reception/shop was very minimal really and upon paying and entering we were told there was to be a film crew to video some exhibits. Which was nice to be told so we could avoid them. For the architecturally minded there were some interesting pieces, some nice sections of the buildings an floor plans and a few pieces on the stonework etc. but the main highlight probably was the very large scale model of Bath.
Could have done with a bit more to see and more interactive items. Only digital thing in there was a few tv's and dvds to be played. I'd advise getting up to speed with the times especially when there are great opportunities in Augmented and Virtual reality utilising the 3D models which can easily be sourced from heritage buildings.

As a frequent visitor to Bath I had never visited this lovely little museum before. It is small but really interesting and slightly quirky. It is fabulous and I will definitely visit again.

Next year's exhibitions are themed on Music - both the architecture of music venues, photography of such places, plus we'll be playing the Chapel's precious organ and holding concerts.

A small spot in a quiet section of Bath. Prime location for any architect nuts, and a great place to start your visit. Unfortunately a section was closed for refurbishment, but overall a good spot to visit if you want to learn more about the history and building of the town.

The museum was interesting particularly if you're interested in the construction of Georgian architecture in Bath. We were greeted and introduced to the museum, which was a single large room. The staff member played a short video and left us to look around the exhibit at our own leisurely pace. There was a balcony area at a higher level in the room but I think you need to pay extra or/and permission to have a look up there.
Toilets were down some stairs so wouldn't be accessible for wheelchair enabled users.
