Marked paths in the forest taking you to a steep overlook at the gorge - if you have the time, well worth a hike.

Our previous visit to Ebbor Gorge was many years ago. It was stunning and open, like a miniature Cheddar Gorge.
It was disappointing to see the gorge maintenance appears to have been neglected with views mostly blocked by dense trees and bushes.
Virtually non existent road signage to find the gorge and car park, and equally sparse and unhelpful signage on the footpaths.
Still a pleasant walk though, lots of butterflies and dragonflies.

Really beautiful part of the country around here and a spectacular gorge with wonderful woodland. The walk was a great combination of challenging and relaxing with an amazing spot for lunch!!

It is a beautiful place but allow 2hrs to do the gorge route. Very strenuous steep in places and rocky. View nice but this is a wooded nature reserve a little disappointed that you couldn't see the gorge properly.

We enjoyed a nive walk to this gorge from Wells town centre, the walk was very uphill and hard work, but lovely scenery along the way, including wookey Hole. when we evedntually got to the gorgeit was a bit of a let down, yes it is a gorge but there are a lot of trees that stopped it from being a scenic gorge where you can see the gorge properly from any point we found. Great walk, not so great views.

We ate a lovely lunch at The Wookey Hole Inn before embarking on a circular walk of the gorge which we found on the Discovering Britain website.
It was a gentle start up through the woods before the climb up the rocky gorge itself. The walk offers you an alternative if you feel the climb is not for you.
having made it to the top we eventually emerged out on the escarpment where the view is spectacular. Blessed with a clear day we could see Glastonbury Tor and much more besides.
Following the walking instructions we avoided retracing our steps down the gorge, which to be honest, would have been a lot harder than coming up and enjoyed a pleasant walk back to Wookey Hole via fields and a fairly visible footpath.

We didn't do the standard circuit, not least because we didn't arrive at the carpark. There are a number of paths available. The path through the gorge itself is dramatic passing through a narrow cleft in the rocks. There is some scrambling too, which some would find tricky. If the rock were wet then parts would be very slippery and going up through the gorge path would be safer than descending that way.
The area is lovely. It is clearly a popular location. Maps are available at a number of points but many routes are waymarked. Very interesting

This part of Somerset is stunning at any time. At the Ebbor gorge car park we choose to go left of the information board and did somehow (after the 1st kissing gate) lose the path. We ended up in a random field where we were directed by some friendly maintenance workers. Once back on the path we found ourselves at the top of the gorge with a signpost to either the gorge or the carpark(we were later told that the carpark sign is incorrect, it was in fact to the viewpoint). The descent through the gorge is steep and narrow, fortunately it wasn’t busy as that would have made it an impossible place to follow COVID rules. I’d describe the gorge as a dry waterfall, probably not during heavy rain. At the bottom we found a sign and made our way up steep steps to the carpark. Will have to go again to find out where we went wrong. 🤷🏻♀️

I am staying a few miles away in a motorhome. Is there day parking for a motorhome if I visit?

Ebor Gorge has normally got free parking no limit on time. However it has been closed during covid so you may need a back ip an in case entry to the parking is still restricted. You Coul park in Wookey hole and walk to the Gorge it's only about 30 mons walk from there.

I would like to know about accessibility for someone in a wheelchair or mobility scooter, are there any shorter routes?

Caerphilly County, UK22 bidrag
There are 3 routes, including a shorter accessible one, I can’t comment specifically on it as we only did the longer walk but it was easily sign posted as being accessible for wheel chairs and push chairs

Am I likely to walk through fields with cows on Ebhor Gorge? If so, are the cows fenced off from the public or allowed to roam openly?

No cows anywhere.
