Firstly very dissapointed we couldnt have a bbq even though there are concrete areas which could safely have one and in the past we have been allowed .
£5 car parking for day which to be fair was ok to pay the toilets are a total let down and what has happened to the Kiosk which served Teas coffees etc such a shame as easter bank holiday would of done a good trade ...

Took my friends and children on the u.f.o,walks,absolutely excellent,just the right mix of trails,varying from a short walk to longer ones,children's play area as well,

Has gone downhill for kids

The Forestry Commission seems to have given up on kids here. The bike track is closed for good with no clear info on a future alternative and nothing on the website. The big play area with crashed plane equipment is gone, replaced with some useless slippery balance poles. The rest of the remaining play equipment looks unloved. Such a shame as we used to really enjoy it here and its such a contrast with their other forest sites where play is well invested in and maintained.

Crap!

Absolute s**t. I SWEAR TO GOD THIS PLACE!!!! Went out for a nice family walk with the youngins and we went to find the wooden sculptures for a nice day so we could just enjoy the good weather. But there was 12 sculptures and they were all deformed animals and not kept in good shape. This place is absolute rubbish and I hope it gets shut down as it is also next to a old US airfield which is dangerous for the children. 0/10 don’t recommend. One of my kids got hurt very badly on the slide. I’m fuming!!!! Had to come 48 miles for that!

Nice walk

Well signposted and kept tidy. Toilets available. parking is a bit pricey and ringgo also added an admin fee, £3.16 for 2 hours.

Good bike trail

Visited for the first time. Arrived in the virtually empty car park to be met by officious lady directing us where to park. 10 Mile Bike trail was good and very well signed. Did the UFO trail after our picnic which was disappointing. More could be made of theming but otherwise a pleasant walk. Toilets are awful and not adequate in number (1 male, 1 female and 1 disabled toilet and a couple of portaloos) for the amount of visitors compared to many other Forestry Commission sites we have visited. Some investment needs to be made in this area.

Great trail with an interesting story to follow.

We done the UFO trail from the forest center, there is a map to follow at the information Center that guides you and tells you about the points of interest song the route, about halfway there is a sculpture of what the UFO looked like based on drawings from the USAF guys who supposedly saw it, great little walk in a lovely forest.
Staff at the information point were helpful and friendly and there is also a good and drink hut in the car park.

UFO trail

It was lovely to walk through the forest on a warm autumn day listening to the twittering of the birds. It was still early autumn (late summer for some) so the trees were still green, the light cascading through the canopy gently on to the forest floor. Parking is not too bad really at £5 for the day and there are plenty of different trails to try. I chose the UFO one, not because I am particularly interested in UFO's, although I have read about the sitings that took place here, but mainly because it was the longest and I wanted a long walk.

The trails are all colour coded and so easy to follow and the path has a variety of different notice boards together with mock UFO's telling you about the different things that were seen at each point along the trail - all interesting stuff! Not too long at around 3 miles but long enough to get a flavour of the forest and long enough to work up a sweat.

We paid £3 for two hours parking, the only other option was £5 for all day. Two hours was enough for us to have a picnic lunch and have a stroll through the woods following the easy route on the free map provided at the cabin in the car park. Other more challenging routes are available including a UFO route and a cycling route. We discovered three different basic play areas for kids with climbing frames, swings and a slide. Unfortunately the baby swing was broken and a zip line was out of use. I was disappointed that there was very little wild life to see.

Would live to see more biodiversity...

Went for a lovely jog on our first visit...very peaceful. But other than a chiff chaff and a magpie a three butterflies, where is the wildlife? Of course this is a pine and silver birch managed forest but be great to see some rewilding to attract more birds and bees...some Berry trees and hedgerows perhaps somewhere.
