My twin brother Stephen and I were heading to The Mile Castle Pub and passed this beautiful church, its actually facing the church.
A church dating from 1287 , its such an eye catching structure, the most distinctive feature of this church is the stone tower with four stone points atop ,as we were here of a night the church was closed but I bet it looks spectacular inside, the grounds in which the church resides is also very nice, all in all its a beautiful church, most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate along Grainger Street.

The church itself is lovely and very nice to visit but the reason to visit the church most of all is the lovely ambience and hospitality that is generated by the people in the church. They were welcoming, kind and just lovely to our young daughter.

This is a very distinctive and patently historical church which is centrally and prominently located near the main rail station in Newcastle. It is well worth spending a leisurely visit here. There are lots of leaflets outlining the history of the building and detailing the main internal features of this busy High Anglican church which celebrates a daily Eucharistic and several Sunday services. I was very lucky to encounter some volunteers who were so welcoming and they were so enthusiastic about their church. They made sure that I was aware of the main 'attractions' - the fragments of medieval glass in the chancel wall, the anchorage window, the Percy shield dating from the 1300s etc. Apparently the original church was built around 1130 and used stones from the Roman built Hadrian's Wall. Primarily, it is a place of prayer - a haven of tranquillity in a busy city.

A welcoming peaceful haven in vibrant city where the sense of prayer and spirituality is very evident
