Like some others who have said but its not worth paying to see this slab of stone. The church on the other hand is lovely and staff are happy to talk to you about anything inside - they seem very knowledgeable.

It’s WELL worth the £4 (£1 for under 16s and free for little ones) to see the grave area of the gorgeous church. It’s what many pay for a coffee or a pint. I don’t understand the negativity on some of the reviews. The church itself is free to enter and is stunning with friendly guides and qr codes with lots of information. They receive no government funding and the church needs a lot to keep going so the small charge is perfectly reasonable. It’s similar to Venice where you can go to St Marks for free but if you want to see certain artefacts there’s a small charge.

The grave itself (or rather set of graves) is actually very moving I found- especially as I had visited Shakespeare’s birthplace (amazing) that morning. I feel I came full circle with him. The experience is one I will never ever forget and there’s not much that costs £4 that will ever have that same impact on me. Just see it as contributing to the future of this hugely important site and feel good about it. Thanks to everyone at the church for making my visit so unforgettable.

The grave is on the altar of Holy Trinity in Stratford - a beautiful old church. He's with his family - their grave inscriptions - particularly his daughter's - are poignant and poetic. The guide was informative. A wonderful place to visit - and the setting is idyllic.

We would have been more than happy to make a donation but we were very unhappy at the price of £4 each. Many people turning away due to this. It should be free to go in a church.

It costs a little extra to visit but it is well worth the small charge to go and see it. The grave itself is very subtle with no grand monument

We went to Holy Trinity Church thinking we would be able to visit Shakespeare's grave and we did, but I was a little taken aback when we had to pay extra to see the grave. The church doesn't charge admission like some do, so you are free to walk around and explore, but if you want to enter the area where Shakespeare's grave is, there is a charge. Not saying that it is wrong to do that, as other historic churches charge admission, just surprised. Shakespeare's grave is very simple- just marked with a slab. There is a much larger memorial to him in Westminster Abbey although he is not buried in Westminster Abbey.

To be found inside the church. Entry to the church is free, although they appreciate donations and entrance to the graves is £4 adult and £1 child. Cash and card payments taken. Small gift shop inside the church. Wonderful place to visit and along the riverbank makes it more special. Friendly, helpful volunteers inside the church too.

The graves are not much to look at i guess but it is nice to say that you were there and have seen them first hand.

Fantastic experience, worth the visit! I’ve been coming to Stratford for years and only now I have visited the grave! Best in the summer though as a bit cold in winter

Lot of hype around this, whether he was buried 15 feet down ,etc but the reality was that he and his family were buried in 'normal' graves, albeit in a prominent position in front of the altar in Holy Trinity church. Can't believe they used to charge just to view the grave, so now they don't, although they encourage donations, which is far better, especially as there are very informative and witty guides who can talk you through the history and point out the amazing carved seats surrounding the choirstalls at the altar end. Above and to the left, W.S. himself looks down on the proceedings from a niche in the wall, no doubt chuckling away, if he still could!

Weren’t allowed in due to staff shortage. Still expected a donation though! Really need to get their act together.
