Went to look round with my 11 year old grandson, he absolutely loved it. So much to see and so informative plus lots of history. He even bought a model plane and started building it there with some help from very knowledgeable guys like Richard. Went to the cafe for refreshments and climbed into the Vulcan, what an experience.
Brilliant book shop too, will definitely go back soon. Outside is a Picknick area under the Vulcan.

First the positives.

The museum gets 5 our of 5. There is great content and plenty of items to touch, play with and observe for young people. There has been a lot of thought gone into the layout, and perhaps the greatest thing about the museum is that you can actually go inside some of the cockpits, and that is what makes this a great museum. As a museum I highly recommend it. There were two gentlemen in two of the cockpits and they were fantastic, very knowledgeable and really helped make it a special day.

Now the negatives.
There are 4.
1. This is sadly a money oriented museum, it is not cheap to go in. You will not find the entry prices on the wall, and this is the same for the cafe. There are no prices, and they do this on purpose. Be warned, it is not cheap.
2. They do not recognise disability. This is actually an issue which we are taking up at a higher level. Basically, we have a disabled young person, and because of their disability he has to have a carer. Because they dont recognise disability, both the disabled person and their carer get fully charged for their entry. When I questioned this, they just said that it is because they cant claim the entry fee from the government. However, after more enquiries I have found this to be rubbish. So even if you take a disabled person in, expect to pay full whack.
3. It is VERY cold. even though the majority of the museum is indoors, there is no heating at all, so dress up warm.
4. The attitude of the two women on reception was just unacceptable and so negative about the place. They were the complete opposite of the two volunteer gentlemen, and they put me off ever going again.

So as always I end with asking myself if I would go back again. The answer is yes BUT only if they changed some of their policies to recognise disability and stopped over pricing the museum.

It is a shame, because the museum is very good.

A nice museum with a wide variety of British aircraft (Avro Vulcan, de Havilland Sea Vixen, and a Gloster Meteor), along with some from different countries such as an RCAF F-101 Voodoo and a SAAB J-29F Tunnan. Also nice to see a de Havilland Vampire painted in Royal Auxiliary Air Force colors. They also have a well stocked gift shop and lots of old books. Well worth a visit, but only thing of note is that the entrance is easily missed while driving down the road, so keep an eye out for it!

Very interesting displays ( if not a little dated) However, they have a large number of planes outside to see - worth a visit. Enthusiastic helpers.

This privately-owned aviation museum is a too-little known "hidden" gem in Coventry. Staffed mostly by knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers, with access to many cockpits and absolutely stuffed to the brim with aircraft (including many rare marques), memorabilia, design drawings, components and information, it's not to be missed by aviation enthusiasts. Had a fantastic day out.

MAM is located alongside Coventry airport and there’s plenty of parking. The midlands has a rich history of aircraft manufacturing and this museum certainly gives it justice, especially in respect of jet engine pioneer Frank Whittle. The indoor hanger contains a variety of aircraft (including a sit in Meteor cockpit), plus an upstairs area with more exhibits. A number of aircraft are also dotted around outside but unfortunately look very forlorn from their time facing the elements - other than moving them to a facility that can adequately store them undercover, I don’t have an answer.

There’s a large selection of airfix type models for sale, as well as new and second hand aviation books/magazines. Overall I spent a happy couple of hours looking around

Really Educational and the guides were so enthusiastic - we both learnt a lot

It was not pricey at all and there was no pressure to buy anything

I've visited this museum before and led a school trip which was brilliant but my experience today was poor. Nothing really for my active 5 year old son to do and there was only one plane to explore inside. All other outdoor exhibits were locked which was really disappointing. When I asked why there were so few exhibits to explore the response was they were dependent on volunteers to man the planes. When I have been before this has not been the case. Thought we would be able to spend at least a couple of hours here but was done in 45 minutes easily. My son was not entertained for very long which was disappointing for what we thought would be an interesting afternoon.

I’m not an aviation enthusiast but even I enjoyed our visit. My partner was very happy & loved being able to go up in the Vulcan.
It’s much bigger than we were expecting. Given it all managed by volunteers it’s outstanding. Well worth a visit.
