This is a nice little mature wood with mixed foliage. However it seems to have a continuous stream of dogs off the lead. Add to that the noisy dog owners, cyclists, horses and runners the likelyhood of seeing any of the obviously (from the calls and song) numerous birds is remote. So, fine if you like dogs but a waste of time for bird watchers.

The marsh is a great alternative to golden acre and has Paul's pond at the back of it that is an excellent place for the dog to swim that isn't full of ducks and bird watchers!

Only downside is that the bins for dog mess finish when the bridge starts.

These woods are a lovely place for a walk, and you combine one with also visiting Golden Acre Park (there is a car-park between the two). A lot of work has been carried out over the past couple of years to make them more accessible, but they have not been spoiled. They can get quite busy at weekends though. Paul's Pond is popular with anglers.

we went here by accident instead of going to golden acre! lol , but we still had a lovely walk unfortunately it started to rain when we eventually found golden acre at the other side of the bridge so we left that for another day! enjoyed seeing all the bluebells out its a lovely little short walk very scenic :)

This is a walk that is probably suitable for most able bodied people. It can be boggy (obviously) in parts,so wear appropriate footwear.Much quieter than the main part of Golden Acre.

This is the birth place of Adel Beck which rises just down from Cookridge Hall. The water flows into 'Breary Marsh' and to Paul's Pond - the first Dam / fishpond in those woods.

The Roman Road came by and parts can still be seen.

This wetland nature reserve is unlikely to be visited by anyone other than Birdwatchers, dogwalkers, horseriders, mountain bikers and joggers. It is between the Holt Park mass of housing and the "new" Otley Road, cut in the 1800's/Golden Acre/Parkway Hotel.

Actually folks in Leeds 'could' but probably won't make good use of it:- the No 1 bus route ends/starts nearby at Asda Adel. That comes from Beeston on a circular route.

Folks can either go through Breary to Golden Acre (cafe and loos). Or do a circular. More adventurous or Mountain bikers can continue to the Harewood Estate.
Or the Meanwood Valley Trail to Leeds Uni or the centre.
