Fab theatre. Just be aware that at the very edges of the auditorium you can't see the upstage section of the stage. I was aware it was restricted view but it was a lot more than I expected. But otherwise the venue is fab, the staff friendly and the production was phenominal.

I don't go to Leeds Playhouse very often, but I have been doing so for several decades. I really enjoyed my most recent visit, which was to a Palestinian cultural evening, which was part of Leeds Palestinian Film Festival. I arrived early, and had a coffee in the cafe. They were so friendly and helpful, and I had a lovely encounter with a couple of fellow Sheffielders, who were there for another event.

Went to see paranormal activity and I don’t understand the hype about this at all.
Far from scary very slow burn and just sat waiting for something scary to happen, nothing jump out of your seat more like bored out of my head.

First time I've been in the theatre and it was lovely, we were sitting in one of the side seat and had a great view, although I don't think it would have mattered where we were sitting. The show itself was amazing, left wondering on a couple of occasions how did they do that - LOVED it

Had a great evening at the Playhouse - the show was amazing, and without ruining the story there were some moments where I thought " How on earth did they do that?" Always a pleasure.

Brilliant theatre where there’s not a bad seat in the house. Brilliant productions too, like My Fair Lady that I’ve just seen. Friendly, helpful staff and decent food outlets, it’s a one-stop shop for a memorable theatrical experience.

Went to see My Fair Lady, so looking forward to seeing this musical again (one of my favourites). The combination of Opera North and Leeds Playhouse was really exciting. Unfortunately the show was spoilt by two scenes that were very drab and poorly costumed. This is why I have knocked a star off. The Ascot Gavotte should be a strikingly stunning scene with costumes in black and white. With over large hat brims, parasols and men in tailcoats and top hats. If you look at the 1912/13 Ascot images you will notice the white and black scene. I felt the lack of using the correct costumes very off putting. The second drab scene was the Embassy Ball. Most societies cut this scene out choosing to show the main players leaving for the Embassy prior to the Interval then Higgins bursting into his drawing room/library singing about the ball. To stage the Embassy Ball without using stunning costumes especially a white French 1913 evening gown for Eliza lacked a superior knowledge of the time it was set in. Then to fail to have the lead Eliza changed into her going away costume in the minimum 11 seconds available for a fast change, well I thought professional wardrobe dressers knew better than this. Eliza came out to Freddy’s second line of a song still in Drab red/black yuk evening dress with a coat fit only for Eliza the flower seller in the first scene. The coat not even fastened and no hat. Unbelievable, even amateur shows with hardly any spare cash do better than this.
Come on Opera North and Leeds Playhouse you have put on fantastic singers even down to the beautiful chorus singing and Leeds Playhouse the wardrobe must be authentic to the time the original show was set. You have outside access to the biggest warehouse wardrobe of the lot, literally a street away from you. This would have lifted the show especially as the beautiful set was drab without the colour of certain scenes.
Also if you had cut the Embassy Ball you could have left in the very funny scenes with Colonel Pickering and those with Alfred P Dolittle, guaranteed to bring the house down.
Overall I recommend people to see the show for the excellent music, the full orchestra and brilliant performances by everyone, even the lowliest members of the chorus.

Watched the most fabulous production of Oliver. It was so good I went again! A great venue, wherever you sit you have a good seat. Parking is easy and there is a lovely little cafe there too!

I can’t complain about the productions, most aspects of the venue or the staff: they are generally all brilliant.
But, I’ve been to this theatre a number of times over the years, and perhaps I’m getting old and cranky, but I do feel disgruntled to see that nothing ever gets done about the female toilet situation. Perhaps it’s because it’s so ostensibly accessible to just about every other need, it feels like women - 50% of the population - are stuck in the past. We made light of it the first time - seeing men nip in and out of the toilets whilst the whole female population of the theatre snaked around in a queue - but now I’m becoming less tolerant of this, and the expectation that we will all rush and queue for the entire interval and potentially not even get to the toilet before the play resumes, risking not being allowed back in. It’s completely unsuitable for pregnant women or women with diabetes, on their period etc to have to choose between queuing for the entire interval or even being able to get a drink or something to eat. It sounds like a first world problem, but my partner had to sit through the second half of the show without using the facilities as he’d had to wait for me with the drinks the whole time, which makes the experience less than comfortable. I’m afraid as the prices start to creep up (not far off some West End prices) then the facilities should really match.

Im looking to book some front row seats at the Courtyard Theatre for October. Had anyone any experience of these? Is the stage raised or on a level with those seats?
Thanks

Hello Could anyone please advise me where to sit for the best view as I'm not familiar with this theatre. Many thanks.
Skrevet 9. september 2017
Hi I'd sit in one of the upper sections towards the centres.
Skrevet 13. september 2017
Everyone has commented that all seats are good in the Quarry Theatre.Does this still apply if the production is a ballet? Are there any things to consider in this case?
Many thanks, Pat
Skrevet 8. juni 2016
Hi Pat,
All the seats are very good and spacious, I don't you will have a problem whichever seat you choose. Although they usually do say never to choose the first row or two as you crick your next to look at the stage, but these seem to look alright to. Hope this helps.
