It's a very good way to see all of Aberystwyth, but the gap between the carriage and the platform is to big and I think it's dangerous for children and dogs.

Lovely couple of hours spent. Enjoyed the rail journey and our dog was very well behaved. Spectacular views and lots to do. Played mini golf and ate lunch at the cafe. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed our meal . Would recommend.

We went on the railway and had a fabulous view of Aberystwyth as we rose above the town. It was a beautiful day and we could see for miles.
At the top was a lovely cafe and plenty of tables and parasols to sit in the shade.
We decided to walk down and it was so steep we were glad of the lift up!

Came for holiday, nice railway, and a fun walk, the cafe wasn’t a good experience with the food, but the place was nice

We had a lovely time once we made it to the top, the cafe was lovely and the children enjoyed playing in the crazy golf and the bowling.
It’s just a shame that no one in the ticket office said that there was a lift, even though they were informed that we had and OAP with walking difficulties that we also had a double pram and a single pram. Instead we were sent to the other side of the tram where there was a very steep hill to get to the entrance. If he would have said, we would have waited for the next tram to come down so that we could have used the lift and the disabled ramp access. When we eventually got to the top we waited for everyone else to get off first, a lovely lady who was also on the tram offered to help with the single pram as there were around 20 steep steps whilst the staff in the little box on the top watched us (they actually were watching us) all struggle, not one of them offered to come out and give us a hand or offer any sort of help. Very disappointing!
It’s just lucky that the views from the top are spectacular and this made whole experience better

This is a must do for any visitor. A really great funicular with amazing views at the top and a lovely cafe to boot. Staff are really friendly and welcoming making the whole experience very pleasant. We’ve not bought season tickets and use it as part of our coastal walks to Clarach and Borth or as a nice treat for lunch and a pint.

This is a lovely ride up the mountain. With great views across the sea and along the coast. We worth a visit.

A must do if you are in or near Aberystwyth. Is is located at the far end of the promenade and there is a steep climb to the entrance but it is worth it. The cost is very reasonable and the carriages run every 10 mins. You can do one way either climb to the top and travel down or vice versa. The view over the town is spectacular and you can see well into the distance of Cardigan bay. There is a cafe at the top which does snacks and drinks as well as a toilet for you to use if you are brave enough to walk back down.

A must do if you go to Aberystwyth. Cost was about £14 for 2 people to go up and back on the funicular railway. You can instead walk up or back or both if you have a lot more energy than we do - what a lot of steps! The view from the carriages is stunning as is the view from the top of the cliff where there are a few little family oriented attractions and a cafe. Cafe was ok, nice amount of outdoor seating - we only had cake and soft drinks which were all pretty standard fayre.

It would be difficult not to like travelling up and down on this. Even on a rainy day, the view is great and, as it moves very slowly, there is plenty of time to see it.
Of course, the front part of the carriage is the best, but the advantage of a rainy day is that there was no one to compete for this prized space. We walked up and took the rail down as the pathway up the hill is quite gravelly.

Would like to know if the path walking down constitution hill is a clear footpath suitable and safe for a small group of 6 year olds? With no rocks, lumps or bumps in the way...

It's perfectly safe. Paths aren't close the edge and are laid out well. My 6 year old twins walked down fine

The Cliff Railway is open from 10am to 5pm, 7 days a week from April to October, and often later (till 6pm) during the high season.
Out of season, the trains run to a limited timetable, so please call us on 01970 617642 to find out the latest details, or alternatively check out our noticeboard for day to day details.

You can walk up the hill, it's quite steep but more than do-able if you don't mind the climb. We used to do it as students regularly!

I would like to ask the same Question that hasn't been answered above yet? Does the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway allow dogs on board? I am visiting the area on the August bank holiday 2015 with my family and one small dog and would love to use the Cliff Railway. Can you please let me know. Thanks

they allowed dogs when I was there in Sept 2016 . There is a path going up the side of the railway,but it's a fair climb if your not very active. which I'm not saying you are . you'll have a great time so enjoy .
