It was a wild find, and this experience was really unique and fun.

Positives: Place is full of old train and railway stuff, I saw all things sign/weights/posts/train miniatures and I regret nothing. Its shop is full of miniature building stuff (railroads, trees, trains), and books about trains. Displays are interactive, staff are super lovely, and admission prices are extremely affordable. Also, they have a tiny train to ride in! And they give proper cool tiny tickets!

Negatives: Everything seems old and slightly shabby, some displays have buttons that do nothing, or big locomotives on location that you can’t walk in to, they just rust and mold away by the looks of it (apologies if they get used in summer). Essentially, if someone is only interested in high-tech or thrilling stuff and can’t take things like that with humour, curiosity and a grain of salt, they might be really disappointed.

Overall: Unique and fun for families with kids, fans of trains, or people who like quirky stuff. Anybody else might have a dissatisfying experience.

We visited Betws Y Coed with family, having visited this museum years ago. It's in a lovely location next to an old church and the railway station. Unfortunately the museum is past it's best and is in need of some upgrading. The children loved the train ride though! Beware of the car park, need to pay on arrival.

What a great little place! The children loved the train ride and also the museum. A good little find to occupy the children for a few hours on a rainy day.

Its alright for a morning, not much to do, most of the train models don't work. But its cool to look at for an hour. The little train is a good ride for the kids

I last came here when it was a great place to come in its heyday, but now financial restraints, lack of volunteers etc means there is so much that needs doing but still good value for money especially for the shop, the museum and the miniature railway. It's true the cafe in the standard gauge stock is closed and many of the layouts in the museum no longer have working trains, and the unique 15 inch tram hasn't rang for years. But for the prices charged it should still be visited and have a train ride, which runs as demand requires - we had the train to ourselves such was the friendliness of the staff, they ran one for us to take some pictures.
Whilst they still own the car park like most car parks in the area it is managed by a third party. Before this we found out many visitors to the town used the car park without visiting this museum. However we found the 3td party were up to tricks if they could get away with it, despite the owners of the railway complaining. We had already experienced problems with a similar machine at Colwyn Bay. At this museum I photographed the instructions and ticket. We arrived at 12.52 and paid £3 for 2 hours but out ticket showed 14.40 so we had already lost 12 minutes before we had even left the car, despite the ticket showing 12.52 as arrival time.
Try to support this railway museum if you can, and the footbridge is still in use to take you to the mainline platform

Brilliant museum, lovely exhibits. May be a small museum but lots to see. Exhibits well laid out. Museum staff really great. Excellent shop. Entry price was £2.00 per adult, could charge £4.00 ,per adult, and it would still be great value.

The staff here are incredibly rude and made my two year old cry by being rude and abusive towards him. The shop sells over-priced plastic products produced in sweatshops in developing countries, but the two older ladies behind the counter were whispering behind our back and were verbally abusive towards my son because he as actually looking at the toys. The museum is absolutely terrible. It’s just a few toy trains, that don’t really work properly and it’s overpriced. The sign outside says it’s open every day but it’s not - we’ve been a few times and it’s been closed for no explanation

As a family, we have been visiting this attraction for years. However, last October we received a £100 fine for being just a few minutes over the parking time we had paid for. The reason for this is that we had a couple in their 80s with us and he was slow getting back to the car. We admitted we were in the wrong but protested at £100 fine as we would have been prepared to pay say £25 for our misbehaviour. I agree with the other reviewer; the Museum and Ride attractions will suffer if visitors are met with outrageous parking fines. Incidentally, the company is one of these "rogues" who do a deal with the owners. I, personally, do not think it is worth it for the badwill it creates.

Lovely to see the steam train back in use but the driver could use some customer service lessons -service with a smile please and some please and thank yous! Failing that replace the Victor Meldrew driving the train and make it a much nicer experience

Received a parking fine
Today even though we purchased parking when we were there…

Dismal way to try and get extra £ out of visitors. Don’t park there.
