We stayed as a family of 4 in the cottage on the shores of Lough Neagh. We were welcomed with a huge smile from Elizabeth and Norman who were waiting to welcome us to the cottage.
The cottage is amazing, inside and out and also pristine. From the front door you enter a small hall with board games a plenty stored to one side. Ahead is a modern bathroom with an easy to use walk in shower. To the right of the hall is a very well equipped kitchen with table and chairs. We cooked most nights and the oven was very easy to use. From the hallway you enter the sitting room with sofas, armchairs and an open fire. You then go through to another sitting room and then through this to the spacious main bedroom with an incredibly comfortable double bed.
The cottage is decorated tastefully and in keeping with its age. There are terracotta floor tiles throughout.
Outside the cottage Elizabeth and Norman had just planted a variety of fruit trees and there is a large grassed area to use surrounded by hedges. There is a secure gate to the back of the cottage from the main road.
Despite being so close to the airport it is incredibly quiet. The road the cottage is on is not busy. Across from the cottage there is another field that takes you down to the shores of the lough.
A short walk along the road takes you to Bayview B and B, owned by Elizabeth and Norman. We walked there to have a meal and they were so welcoming and the food was delicious. Elizabeth had beforehand checked for allergies and had been incredibly flexible as our flight had been delayed. Nothing was too much bother and we were not rushed at all despite it being so late.
Throughout the week Elizabeth and Norman helped us plan a good and varied itinerary to make the most of our stay.
You really do need to hire a car! Getting to and from the cottage using public transport would be difficult. Elizabeth had sent details of good car hire companies and we collected one from the airport which was very easy.
At the moment the cottage has no Wi-Fi or tv. This was not an issue as Elizabeth and Norman kindly let us use their Wi-Fi to book trips.
All in all an amazing week and a lovely place to escape to. What Elizabeth and Norman have achieved in restoring the cottage to its former glory is truly remarkable and they should be applauded for the blood, sweat and tears they put in to achieve the end result. I would thoroughly recommend a visit. You will not be disappointed.

Lovely place for a wee stroll to blow away the cobwebs. Plenty of feee parking at the Lough shore and some cool artwork and the best public service posters!

Stopped by Lough Neagh for a couple of hours and checked out a couple of the trails at the visitor's centre before selecting a leaflet covering a short trail going along the lake side and into the woodland slightly. Along the way we popped into a couple of bird hides and had great views across the lake. A pleasant way to spend around an hour.

Lake is really big and has lot of birds in and around the green cover. It is worth going again and again as it is really calm environment away from the city . Beautiful lake and green cover

Came here because it is (by some distance) the vastest body of water in the UK.
On that measure it didn't disappoint. It was obviously very big.
But assist from that there wasn't much else going for it. We walked down from Antrim and it wasn't massively clear how to get to it past the current building works.
Once we got to the shore there was a moment of excitement as a couple of blokes released a load of racing pigeons out of a van. After that we began walking along a largely unscenic path. After a while we did an about turn and walked back. There were quite a few flies about, but few other people.
Not sure if other parts of the lake have anything else like bird hides or information centre or boat tours or an ice cream van or . . . . anything.
Glad I can say I've been, but I won't be rushing back.

Very good value for money hotel owner very helpful place was very clean I like the breakfast room lovely would recommend to anyone else!

Well. Where do I begin? I recently went to Lough Neagh and prior to the trip, visited the (awful) website. For the biggest body of water inside in the island of Ireland, it is well-hidden, not very well publicised on it very own dedicated website, instead confusingly trying to encourage you to other walks, islands and marinas next to the actual Lough itself. It's like going to Disney world in Florida only for the brochure to tell you that seagulls are flying across a bed of sewage at a nearby plant and you should go see that instead.
Simple questions were difficult to find an answer to, what was there to do at the Lough? Were there any trails with potential nice viewpoints? Was the parking free or paid for? Can you take your dog? I went up anyway, only because I knew that naturally it'd be there and I wanted to see it.
It turns out when you get there you soon understand why the website is confusing. Signs for Lough Neagh discovery centre are ambiguous with Oxford Island (which have two separate websites, the lough neagh one of which has the strange title text of 'Lough Neagh and it's waterways'... It's confusing, and when you arrive there's no real signage for Lough Neagh itself, just the buildings and things around it like a marina. The place is in need of major investment.
The little walk there was had a bird watching lookout but it was crawling with spiders so we didn't stay too long. There's not much anyone can do about that I guess but the same was true of the public toilets, which had spider webs on display from a distance through the safe spectating of the car window. The trail around the bird watch lookout was small and strange, offering nothing really.
There was a jetty which was the nicest part of the area, allowing you to take the entire Lough in but you will be going home very underwhelmed. It's a forgettable experience and I would advise anyone against going to visit this lake unfortunately.

Took a trip to the north west area of the Lough and it truly is beautiful. Will have to work our way around bit by bit as there is so much to take in.
Lots of places to stop to admire the views although signposting is a little absent so there may be lots we missed. Unfortunately if you over do the area with things like cafes, family areas and tourist attractions, you will destroy the very thing that is so appealing. It is the tranquility and scenery that has to be preserved but perhaps a little more help for the tourist to find his way around so he can one section at a time.
My title says it all really - will be back again and again and would recommend most highly.

We visited out of season, but if you go to the info point in Belfast they are very helpful and provide you with train and bus times to and from Lough Neagh. You get there in max 40 from Belfast. Amazing views, walked all the way from the train station to the gardens and then around on the shore of the lake, passing the golf field. Maybe in season there is more activity, but definitely worth it if you appreciate some quiet time outside the city. The lake is huge, you can't see its other shores. While there, we found out that Game of Thrones had a few episodes filmed here.

This has a lovely setting but needs work. Dont eat in the restaurant. Hygiene terrible yet it displays a 5 grade. Definately gone downhill. Got coffee and the wand that heated the milk was crusty with dried milk, Staffed cleaned the baine maree with a dirty cloth then wiped tables. Disgusting.
