This is a beautiful statue of Charles II, located next to St. Gile's cathedral on the Royal Mile.
The statue, together with the backdrop of the cathedral prive a wonderful photo-op.

The King Charles II equestrian statue is located in Parliament Square in Edinburgh. This is evidently the oldest statue in Edinburgh and is made of lead. The statue was completed only a month before his death, which took place in February, 1685. In 1922 it was reconstructed, and it was found then that the figure was cast in one piece and soldered to the body of a horse cast in parts. The King Charles II is dressed as a Roman emperor. On his head, he wears a laurel wreath. A beautiful statue in a beautiful location.

Located in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town, in Parliament Square on the Royal Mile, the Equestrian Statue of Charles II is situated behind St Giles Cathedral.

A bronze statue on a stone plinth, in a really picturesque area of Edinburgh.

The statue of Charles 2nd can be found in Parliament Square off Royal Mile not far from St Giles Cathedral. Erected in 1685 and is one of the oldest lead statues in the UK. It depicts the King as a Roman Emperor.
It was restored in 2010-11.

Set away from the Royal Mile in Parliament Square and to one side of St Giles’ Cathedral, this statue honours Charles II - erected in 1685 - who is wearing Roman military clothing atop the oldest lead equestrian monument in the United Kingdom. Pretty interesting and good to know this statue, despite not being centrally located in Edinburgh centre, is the oldest of the many monuments throughout the city.

This statue stands in tribute to King Charles II, the Stuart king restored to the throne after the death of Cromwell. This is apparently the oldest statue in Edinburgh and one of the oldest lead statues in the United Kingdom. It features the king upon a horse and oddly, dressed as a Roman emperor. He is dressed in military clothing wearing a leather muscle cuirass. On his head, he wears a laurel wreath to signify his triumphant restoration. In his right hand he is carrying a consular baton to further the Roman Emperor allegory.

A fine equestrian statue of Charles II

A parte de ser la más antigua de la multitud de estatuas de la ciudad, tiene poco interés artístico. Es una estatua ecuestre del rey Carlos II, ubicada frente a la fachada del parlamento.

The lead equestrian statue of King Charles II is the oldest statue in Edinburgh. It stands in Parliament Square and was erected in 1685. The statue was reputed to have come from the Netherlands from the workshop of Dutch sculptor and master carver Grinling Gibbons. The plinth was executed by Robert Myline, the Kings Master Mason in Scotland. The statue has fallen into disrepair over the years and have been repaired many times. The latest restoration was in 2010-11.
