We travelled as a group. Some of us stayed at a hostel right in the city center. Although it was practical and not expensive with breakfast included, it was not a great experience. Some of us stayed far from the city center in a rented apartment (about 4 km from the city center), the inconvenience was the distance and they had to buy a bus ticket everyday. The apartment was great with all the conveniences, central heating, great beds, spacious and very clean. Everything looked new and modern. It was cheap and had 4 rooms. We don't have experience of hotel or bed and breakfast. If you would like a Highland Experience I would recommend to stay in Edinburgh and book a one day travel to the Highlands.
