As detailed the wall and Roman fort are not really physical remnants but more the site and general topography of the complex with the outline of where it would have run.
To reach the fort it is a bit of a hike around 25mins either way and for us to have visited and stood on the farthest western reaches of the Roman Empire made it worthwhile.
This is probably not for everyone and not your typical historical ruin.

Antonine ditch which is what you can see today. It is not as glamourous or well known as the other roman wall, but I think it is better for that. I walked it to Bonnybridge.

Its quite a walk from the Falkirk wheel car park but worth the extra steps if you're a Historian. The landscape is well sculptured by the Romans with lots of information boards.

Great to walk sections of the wall and pick up a little history along the way. This section is good, however also highly recommend the section at Auchinstarry - less visited and spectacular (complete with newly installed Roman head iron sculpture).

We were visiting the Falkirk Wheel and saw the signposts to the Roman Fort and Antonine Wall, which made us quite excited as we love history and really enjoyed visiting the Forts of Hadrians Wall.
It is a lovely walk through the woods but not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.
In around 20 mins we reached some story boards which showed how it would have looked in Roman times but we were disappointed to see there was very little physical evidence and no sign of any ongoing excavation as there is at Vindolanda, and no museum of found artifacts.
If you are in this area anyway it's a lovely walk but personally I wouldn't make a special effort to visit.

Lovely walk after trip on Falkirk Wheel. As it was a lovely sunny day when we visited it was all the more pleasurable

Park in Twechar and then follow the sign post up a track for just under a mile until you reach the Roman fort. There are great views from the top and sign boards telling you about the history of the site and the Antonine Wall. It one of the few places on the wall where you can see stone work so definitely worth the visit

A pleasant walk up from the Falkirk Wheel, the Antonine Wall is definitely worth a visit. Not a well preserved wall in the sense of what you can see at Hadrian's Wall, but interesting nevertheless. The boards around the site enable you to make sense of what you're looking at and picture what it must have been like for the soldiers stationed at the very limits of the Roman Empire

Rough Castle and the Antonine wall are a must see. They are a huge part of our history and make a fascinating place to visit and learn about the Romans and how they established the border of their empire
