Went here for the first time today.
Really enjoyed it. Quite long with sand and shingle.
Easy to access with lots of free parking and picnic tables.
Not too many people about today a few others with their dogs.
Great views of Ravescraig castle and park both of which can be accessed from the beach.
I sure I will be back many times this summer.

One of the best beaches in Fife for a brisk walk at any time of year. Accessible from a free car park or via the steps in Ravenscraig Park.
Never too busy with some brilliant history and features too, well worth a visit on a sunny day!

Visited Pathhead Beach today full of anticipation and hoping to find lots of lovely sea glass. After trudging up and down and following the receding tide the rewards were scant to say the least. Plenty plenty shells and pebbles galore... glass scarce. 😔 This was the sum total of the search.

Been visiting Kirkcaldy for years, but never been on this stretch of beach - and really regret it because now know what I've been missing. Accessed it from Ravenscraig Park and down the steps past the doocat and there was a lovely stretch of shingle & fine sand to the south, and a rocky promontory to the north sheltered by the castle barricade stone walls. The tide was really far out so there was plenty beach to stroll on, and watched some cormorants stretching their wings to dry off on a distant rock.
Had a great time picking up chunks of sea-glass for my collection, and there were pebbles and stones of the most amazing colours as well as the odd attractive shell.Noticed too that there was a lot of coal pieces rendered smooth and flat by the relentless tides - obviously a leftover from the local coal industry.
The only thing that really detracted from the natural beauty of the place was the amount of rubbish left lying about by lazy selfish people. Is it really so hard to pick up your empty bottles and cans, dirty nappies & dog-poo bags, used BBQ packs & other rubbish and stick it in a bin. There's plenty of them in the park.

This is a very pretty beach. There is lots of free parking and easy beach access.
The true standout of this location is all the sea glass and worn smooth pottery fragments that wash ashore!
I met the nicest man on the beach who noticed my delight and shared a bit of town history. It seems over a hundred years ago there were two glass factories located in town. These factories would just dump unwanted glass into the sea, it was much the same for the pottery factory.
Well over a hundred years later this beautiful sea glass is still washing ashore! It's remarkable!
Beachcombing is elevated to an art! Literally,!

Great beach for kids with a mixture of sand and pebbles in bands . There is some coastal erosion going on but there are Tar Macadam parking spaces ,a large grassy area and benches overlooking the sands . Very popular with locals ,joggers, dog walkers . There is a panoramic sea view of the Forth Estuary over to the Lothians . With a view round to Seafield Castle an early Scottish Tower to the west and Ravenscraig Castle to the East

It's a great view of Ravenscraig castle from the sands, large area good to have a camp fire on beach and sausage sizzle. Picnic area on the grass area before sands. On a clear day you can see over to Edinburgh and along the coast to Methil. Good area to take family to suit in car and look out to sea or play on same or pic nice on grass area.

This place is a hidden secret and probably underused, lovely views over to the east coast, ample free parking, a seating area, nice to come for a walk, or a picnic on a sunny day.

Pathhead Sands are well known to locals for dog walking and as a parking spot for sandwiches next to the beach. The shoreline and amenity area has been restored over the past three years - the beach itself is sandy and clean and many of the overgrown shrubs have been removed. It is not well signposted but it is well worth a visit for a walk on the sands, a picnic, and access to the Castle, Ravenscraig Park and the Fife Coastal Path.
