Quick train ride from central Glasgow and free entry into the park to see Highland cows!!!! So fun to watch them and I even got to see a little “moo-off” between a number of the cows! Would happily visit again. What a fun side trip out of the city!

The rooms and especially the library are well worth the visit. Lighting is poor on the art work, however, and the gardeners were making far too much noise with leaf blowers to make it a peaceful, enjoyable outside experience.

This is Glasgow’s biggest park , and the only Country Park actually within Glasgow. It covers 146 hectares of woodland, grassland and gardens - and the River Cart , a tributary of the Clyde, runs through it. Historic 18th century Pollok House is situated within it, as is the wonderful Burrell Collection. The field of Highland cattle are a popular draw with tourists and locals alike, plus there’s plenty wildlife to be observed here. ( We spied numerous squirrels 🐿️. ) There are also several pathways to follow , including a fairy trail to an enchanting miniature pixie village - an inspiration for little one’s imaginations. The parking charges start at £5 for 4 hours - which is fairly steep if you plan to spend less time here, but that’s our only gripe. Otherwise, it’s easy to find plenty to see and do here.

After driving through Scotland for more then 2000 km, we finale found the highland cows. Amazing park which should be in the top 5 of things to visit in Glasgow.

À seulement 20 minutes en train à partir de la gare de train centrale de Glasgow, ce parc permet d'observer les fameux highland Coos! Il est très bien entretenu. Les sentiers permettent de marcher ou de faire du vélo pendant des heures sans jamais se tanner du décor

The park was nice but is huge and the signs around were adequate. I only saw a map once I got into the museum and even then it wasn't that easy to follow. The park was good but you'll struggle to find anything without asking for directions which ruined the trip.

This place is really the most beautiful gardens in glasgow. The nature is amazing. There were small farm with lots of pumpkins and vegetables to sea. The cafe was very nice and walking around the forest trees was amazing.

Excellent guided tour of house by Jill- v knowledgeable and helpful. Am sure would have missed a great deal without her. Lovely welcome too as NT England members.

Visited this park because we really wanted to see the highland cattle and we weren’t disappointed. There were a lot of cows to see and they also had some calves which were very cute. They are friendly and come right up to the fence to interact.
The park itself is very peaceful and a great place for a walk. We walked several of the routes and it was an enjoyable day.

Yes, the paths were very accessible for cyclists and pedestrians. There were a few hilly bits!

Can we park inside Pollok Park on a Friday morning ..
There is a sign that you cannot park at weekends but not sure when they mean.
I've read that the park is currently closed to cars, where's the best place to park instead?

Depends which direction you approach from. Dumbreck rd.and Pollokshaws rd. are posibillities but both involve long walks to pollok house.

Hello! I will be visiting Scotland in June 2020 with a group. After spending the morning in Glasgow we have several hours on our own. I am a Pollock and am just learning about the Pollock clan sect of Clan Maxwell. I am very interested in visiting the Pollok house and the Pollok Country park. Can someone please advise the easiest way to get there? I'll be starting from the Kelvingrove Art Gallery/Museum area. Also, does anyone know if there are any existing buildings/ruins of the Pollock castle that can be seen here? I think the original castle was destroyed by fire and then eventually demolished in the 1960's, but read that some of the outbuildings may still exist. Also any information about the park itself, what not to miss, etc. I'm very excited about this trip, any shared information will be much appreciated!

Thank you Denis! I have a Glasgow map and was thinking about the rail, so good information on timeframe rail vs. taxi. I've done a bit of research, shame about the Burrell collection, but the grounds and gardens of Pollok house look fantastic, and I would love to see the highland cows there. Very excited to visit your lovely city!

I’m sure I am too late but for the benefit of others if you go into pollock house they give a printed sheet with exact directions to get to the fairy garden. (A popular request!). I kept the directions and will upload with my review .
