We had a great night and thoroughly enjoyed Sma Shots Halloween Experience.
Transported back to Paisley 1888, we listened to stories and tales from that era as we were guided through the rooms and outdoors of the cottages - with lots of spooky scares and frights along the way. The actors were very talented and extremely professional.
This was the first year of this experience but hopefully not the last. We would definitely return and recommend to others. This is the type of thing that Paisley should definitely be promoting more of.

The tour of the cottages was really informative. For those interested in Paisley's renowned cotton/fabric industry they are well worth a visit.

We were staying at nearby Ashtree House before our flight out & it happened to be a Wednesday, the day the Sma' Shot Cottages are open to the public, so we walked down to check it out. What an interesting tour it turned out to be. All of the volunteers were so kind & friendly & very funny too & the restored cottages were very interesting. It's just amazing that they are still there after the city has grown up so much around them. You could tell the volunteers really cared about the place & the history of their city. It was the perfect way to spend our last day in Scotland.

Scottish volunteers are amazing! Again, we went to an historic site and discovered it was manned by volunteers who are passionate about the site. The gentleman gave us a great deal of information about the history of weaving in Paisley while the woman was able to explain how she actually used some of the artifacts when she was a child as they were still in use when she was a child (like the curling iron). There were also beautiful christenig gowns very similar to the one brought over when my grandfather immigrated to Canada in 1935. It was very powerful seeing the connection to our history in the history of Paisley. Shawls were beautiful as well

If you want to know more about how the weavers lived and worked in the textile industry in Paisley, this is the place to go. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. My friends son was allowed to ring the giant bell in the courtyard. Great tearoom too.

The Sma' Shot Cottages stand on Sma' Shot Lane, which is just off New Street. It's a brilliant place to go and get a glimpse of Paisley's weaving past.

Before we did the tour we enjoyed a fabulous Afternoon Tea.
Wonderful tasty freshly made sandwiches and amazing home made cakes. Excellent value for money.
The guided tour is informative and hugely interesting.
The various room settings in two buildings are very well curated. The volunteers deliver facts and information on the history covering two centuries of Sma Shot with enthusiasm and knowledge.
Entry to this excellent museum is free which is a testament to the dedication of the staff and volunteers in their work in maintaining this community resource.

Well worth a visit if you are in Paisley, to see the cottages and how the people lived and how cramped the living conditions were , also to see how the buildings have been maintained. Parking around them is difficult though there is two or three disabled spots there.

It has a Museum dedicated to the Paisley Weavers, and an actual dwelling where the Weavers Lived and Worked. Take the younger members of your Family so they can see what life was like in those times.
