Richmond Barracks offers an absolutely fantastic guided walk from the barracks to Kilmainham Gaol. One can learn about the most interesting and important figures and events of the Irish' struggle for independence, there are poems recited, songs sung: every minute of the 1.5-hour walk is filled with riveting information. I recommend this tour for everyone interested in Irish history.

The 2 tours offered by Richmond barracks are brilliant. The guide is fantastic, very knowledgeable and friendly. He answered all questions and is full of local knowledge of the area and its history. I've recommended it to my friends.

What a great walking tour! Stumbled across it online and feel more people should know about it and take the opportunity to explore recent and fascinating history of the Inchicore area. Our guide, Fergus was a pleasure to listen to, incredibly knowledgeable, with a great delivery and sharing details we'd never come across before. Great way to spend 90 minutes and would highly recommend. Have joined quite a few walking tours over the years and in many countries. THis was one of the most informative and enjoyable. A good tour almost completely depends on the guide and this tour is up there with the best of them

Fantastic walking tour and insights from Phelim. He really brought history to life and connects you to the stories and lives of those from the barracks to the gaol. Would highly recommend this tour. A great way to spend a morning in Dublin.

The tour of Goldenbridge cemetery is a fascinating insight to a pocket of history. I live nearby but never knew just how interesting the place was, the famous people buried there, its links to glasnevin cemetary and the rich stories connected to the cemetery to the history of Dublin from penal times to modern day. Phelim was an excellent guide and combined story telling, literature and humour to make the tour engaging from start to finish

Richmond Barracks to Kilmainham Gaol Walking Tour with Phelim
A rich tour full of depth stretching from the barracks to Kilmainham gaol. Our guide Phelim displayed a wealth of local knowledge and laid the foundations for connecting my previous knowledge and events from school lessons to documentaries and other local tours (through the OPW and city council). Dublin's rich history in such a small corner of our city was astonishing and the importance of such relevant sites, settings and memorial plaques bring a great sense of pride and admiration for those gone before us.
I could not recommend this tour enough, 5/5

I thought I knew this part of Dublin well but how wrong I was! Our excellent guide Phelim packed in the stories and insights during this entertaining walking tour from Richmond Barracks to Kilmainham Gaol. A major focus was the many interesting characters who are associated with the area. Highly recommended.

Richmond Barracks to Kilmainham Gaol Walking Tour with Phelim was brilliant; such rich history with elements of Irish poetry, prose and song excellently orated, narrated and sung by Phelim. Phelim made sure we were all together as a group and everyone was comfortable in the rain. We are already looking at some of his other tours to attend. Highly recommended for some entertaining history and culture of Dublin, for visitors and Dubliners alike.

A family group of 14 undertook the walking tour on Saturday 9th April 2022. The tour was led by Phelim. Phelim was the most wonderful and knowledgable guide who enhanced the tour not only by guiding us through the history of the area but by recanting poems and signing a song. I would throughly recommend the tour to all.

We went on a walking our with our community group last Saturday. Lorna in the booking department was very accommodating regarding our group. Our guide Phelim was excellent. He is very knowledgeable and made the tour entertaining by including history, poetry and song. He was engaging with the audience and appreciated input from the group. He was also aware of group safety aspects. Thanks very much for this great tour Phelim!

Hi, the tour takes 1.15 mins, but people usually stay a bit longer to listen to exhibition elements that are not fully covered in the guided tour. The guided tour includes a tour of Goldenbridge Cemetery.
Visitors can also do a self guided tour. They can cover the barracks buildings in about 40 minutes
