I had no idea old Waterford had such a history and so much to offer. Lots of impressive buildings, museums, and good cafes etc.

My Mum a native of Dungarvan who has lived in Dublin for over 50 years enjoyed her recent visit with me to Waterford City and The Viking Triangle made our walk around the city so informative and as a history buff I loved the detailed explanations, the architecture and restoration work that has been undertaken. I have shared my photo's on social media and have received a lot of interest!!

As good a day on holiday as alive had in a long time, the Viking Trianlge in Waterford is quite magnificent.
The highlight is the area around Cathedral Square where you have the Medieval Treasures Museum and adjacent Bishop's Palace Both are well worth doing and you can buy a combination ticket in either one. The Charter of Warerford is on display in the museum as well as a myriad if amazing things and the tour of the Bishops Palace is really interesting.
Also worth doing is the King of the Vikings, an amazing history lesson using Virtual Reality goggles that really brings the Viking city to life.
Reginald's Tower is another must see though the interior was closed for renovation on our visit. There's a wooden boat on the pavement outside.
There is an incredible wooden sculpture of a sword that has to be seen to be believed to the side of the Treasures Museum as well as the statue of Strongbow and Aoife on Cathedral Square.
The Waterford Glass Museum is across the road from the Bishops Palace too. All of these are within 100m or so of each other on almost completely pedestrisnised streeta
A beautiful place to visit, loads to see and do.

deze kleine plaats aan het begin van jouw tour aan de oude stad geeft je al een geweldige indruk hoe de Vikings hier hun stempel achtergelaten hebben.

Had an informative walk around the Viking Triangle with our guide through the ancient parts of Waterford. So much Viking history in this small area. Museum overview was also outstanding.

You would need a couple of days to explore Waterford’s Viking Triangle.
Don’t miss the Medieval Museum,Christchurch Cathedral,Reginald’s Tower and when it reopens, the King of the Vikings interactive experience.
Even wandering the ancient cobbled streets is fantastic.
Great street furniture too-the Strongbow and Aoife sculpture, the beautiful engraved Viking sword and the memorial to John Condron, the youngest soldier killed in World War One.
This area is a must for everyone, and totally unmissable for history buffs!

It was so great to see so much of the original Viking walls still intact around Waterford. True, it has disappeared in some areas but it is glorious in others. Definitely worth the walk.
