A visit to Cefn Coch Stone Circle (otherwise known as the Druid’s Stones) is worthwhile but be aware it takes a bit of effort to get there and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues or very young children. You can either walk up from the village or drive up a steep, narrow country lane to a small parking area half way to the stones. Once at this point you should don sturdy boots and prepare for any change in the weather. In all, there and back, it took us (two adults and a teenager) approximately 2 hours. It’s a moderate climb upwards. You’ll walk through farmland on your way so be sure to respectfully keep dogs on leads when needed. Just before Cefn Coch Stone Circle you’ll be able to see a smaller ring of stones visible on Google maps called Circle 275. The views from the top are spectacular; on a good day you get breathtaking views of part of the North Wales coastline. It is a beautiful place with perfect photo opportunities. For clarity Meini Hirion means long stones in Welsh but Tripadvisor won’t allow a new page to be made.

Lovely walk with stunning views across to Ynys Mon and the Great Orme and beyond to the mysterious Druids circle. Easily accessible from Penmaenmawr.

As a local resident this is an ancient place of sanctuary and historical significance. Like many preserved megalithic spots here, it is not a national tourist destination, and should be respected as such. Use an ordnance survey map rather than Google, looking at a proper map will help you see the significance of the area. Don't expect a red carpet for parking - the lane and jubilee pillars should be kept clear for the farmer and emergency services due to access restrictions on the steep bend. If you want to visit this place then it is advisable to park by the library and walk up via the fisheries. This area is full of wildlife and you must remember to pick up your litter. The ground gets boggy in places. If you're a keen hiker then this is an easy walk. If you have dodgy knees and expect signs and paths then stick to the beach. Remember that the weather closes in rapidly between the mountains and the sea so be prepared for wind and rain. Although some days you can be blessed with complete calm and sunshine with a panoramic views. Remember Wales is not a theme park and leave it as you found it.

We've seen reviews from people saying it is hard to find. If you can't find this place then quite frankly you really shouldn't be allowed out on hills (or possibly anywhere else) without a responsible adult.

We took a gamble and drove to the very top of the road where there is parking for around 6 considerate vehicles or 3 BMW drivers adjacent to two stone built pillars. The track does go further but it is clearly marked as no entry, serving just 2 residential properties. The alternative is to walk up from the town, parking in the library car park.

There are numerous signs along the way but quite simply just keep going up. You'll eventually come to a white house on the right where the occupants had thoughtfully placed some bottles of water an sweets asking for a donation to the NHS. Go past the house and the track turns right (there is a sign post) through the gate and follow the track up.

This is the kind of site that the average kid / teenager isn't going to be at all impressed with, but as a walk with a target and a cracking view it really was worth it in our opinion.

There are two small stone circles in the same area, literally a hundred metres or so apart from this main one.

This a understated yet truly inspiring spiritual site. A visit to this sacred space once inspired the founding member of the order of bards ovates and druid order to create the largest pagan organisation in the world. Check out OBOD online for details of the druid order.
Feel the peace of the sacred circle. Reconnect with your inner self and the beautiful landscape by moonlight or sunlight.

Took a group of Scouts up here on a hike as we were on our week-long summer camp nearby.

Lots of wild ponies around and absolutely breathtaking views!

North Wales is a very beautiful part of the United Kingdom.

We walked from Craigwlyd Hall caravan park. It was about 3.5 miles circular walk. First part of walk steep and quite tough but levelled out. There are quite a few stone circles, around 3-4,000 years old. There are also glacially deposited boulders and an "axe factory". We saw wild ponies too which was amazing.

Warning: there is sheep poo everywhere so avoid walking sandals and stick to boots!!

Following google maps, we drove up a very steep, single traffic lane for a kilometre or so, once we'd left the main road. There are lots of blind corners and if you meet traffic coming in the opposite direction, one of you has to reverse to a point where you can pass each other. Bit scary!
This road then becomes stone and gravel, at which point we parked at the pillars. There was no signage that we could see indicating the way, so following our trusty gps we started walking uphill. Taking it slowly, (we're not hikers but people in our late 50s and moderately fit) we managed to walk the additional kilometre or so to where Google indicated the stones should be??? Again, no signage anywhere and the sheep weren't saying. Disappointed that we couldn't find them. The walk was pleasant as the weather was good and the views were great, so it wasn't a total waste of time. But seriously, for a national attraction, would it be so hard to put up a couple of signposts.
Also, don't leave valuables in the car, as it is pretty remote.

The Druid's Circle itself isn't much to see but if you're an avid hiker, like myself, the journey from the train station to the circle is WONDERFUL. The fastest way up is through the town, across the pasture to Graiglwyd Farm and up the trail behind the farm. As you climb, the sounds of the town and the highway running next to it fall away. Yellow gorse (ulex) lines the trail along with a range of other plants and pretty trees. The hike is pretty tough and sometimes a bit boggy but fun. There are plenty of guides to read to plan your hike but they don't really mention that the hillside is usually full of sheep which will run away but be alert just in case. If there are lambs, ewes may defend them if they feel threatened. Also, if you plan to sit down and rest, there is another small warning....where there are sheep, there is sheep poop. The guides don't really mention that. I only have half a day so I took the short route I described rather than the longer route. Either way, I really recommend the walk. The people in town were very helpful and friendly.
