Beautiful area,
sep. 2021
This is a lovely area to visit, and the Nene Valley Railway is just up the road. So if you like Heritage Railways, pop in to the cafe or take a ride. behind a steam train. The Granary Beefeater isn't far away either, so you won't go hungry.

Idyllic place
sep. 2021
An early morning walk with my pooches, the park is looking fantastic and well groomed by the grounds people, lots of people enjoying their walks, runs and fishing, actually saw a pike been caught, photographed and let go back in the lake. We are so lucky to have this place on our door step. Apart from one or two bits of litter that some people left behind the place was idyllic, please people pick up your rubbish there are plenty of bins around. I left Ferry Meadows feeling great and so chilled after my walk. Thanks to all the staff that takes care of this wonderful special place.

Sitting in the sun overlooking the water was a lovely place to enjoy an afternoon. It got better when I came to pay the car park. I put my registration number in and it came up I had already paid, which I had not so pressed the help button and was told to go to the barrier which I did and it opened for me so got free parking.

Costs more than you'd think

Need to work harder on the cafe and parking pricing and for things for the children to do that are not at additional cost.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear you found visiting the park more expensive than expected. The cafe's at Ferry Meadows are run by our partners Meadow Brown Restaurants so unfortunately we have minimal input in these spaces, but we will however pass on your feedback. With regards to the parking charges, the funds raised from the installation of these charges, ensures the park can continue to be maintained to a high standard. This source of income also means the Trust can continue to provide a well kept and biodiverse natural space and deliver a wide range of activities and amenities to the local community. Our recent development of the 'Fox Play' adventure play area may be of interest to you if you were to visit the park again. 'Fox Play' will provide an exciting play area with water features, zip lines, raised walk-ways, climbing opportunities and plenty of new tree planting and will be accessible free of cost for all visitors. We also have our two other adventure play grounds - 'Otter Play' and 'Badger Play'. We will be taking your feedback into consideration and we hope you enjoyed your visit Nene Park.

Well kept area and very interesting. Nice cafe with lovely view. Did not like the parking arrangements job to find a pay meter and rather expensive.

Hello Brenda, Thank you for taking the time to leave some comments after your visit to the park. It is lovely to hear you thought the area was well kept, and how you enjoyed the lovely views Ferry Meadows has to offer. I am sorry you had difficulties with the parking system. We will be sure to take your comments into consideration. As a charity that receives no funding from the taxpayer, we are responsible for generating all of our own income. Over the past few years, we have recorded ever-increasing visitor numbers, and this puts extra demand on our aging infrastructure as well as increasing day-to-day maintenance and running costs. The income raised from parking charges is essential in enabling us to meet these growing demands. We hope that this explains the reasons behind our parking charges and reassures you that the money we generate helps us in continuing to provide facilities for everybody to enjoy. Thank you again, and we hope to welcome you back to Nene Park again soon.

Great place for SUP beginners
jun. 2021
Very positive experience - car parking down by the watersports center was reasonably priced (and had electric car charging). Paddle boarding very easy to arrange via the website, good changing facilities, equipment in good condition.

Decent place for a picnic, nice walk around the lake as well, and decent ice-creams too. Highly recommended. We'll be back!

Thanks for your review. We are sorry to hear that you found food and drinks from the onsite cafes to be expensive. Both Ferry Meadows Cafe and Lakeside Kitchen & Bar are run by our tenant Meadow Brown Restaurants, and Nene Park Trust does not have any control over the prices set; however, we will pass on your feedback. We hope that you enjoyed your visit and we hope to welcome you again soon.

Parking fee, dog and goose crap
nov. 2020 • Alene
Went to fish at the ferry meadow lakes being disabled I was hoping for some dispensation how wrong was I, the parking price is a disgrace for Peterborough. The disabled provision from the PDA was just as bad the only peg I could walk to covered in crap dog and goose crap, I understand from a local nobody would fish that peg as it is rubbish. Is this the best Peterborough offers to encourage disabled people to get out?

Thank you for your review, and we are very sorry that you were dissatisfied with the parking fee and also with the facilities for fishing for disabled visitors. With regards to the fishing facilities, we will certainly share your feedback with our Park Management Team so that this can be considered and improvements made where possible. Parking fees are dependent on the length of time a visitor stays at Ferry Meadows and apply to all vehicles. Between our peak hours (8am to 8pm) the minimum fee for a visit of up to 1 hour is £1.70, and the maximum fee is £5.50 for a visit of over 4 hours. Outside of our peak hours the parking fee is 60p per hour. Before revising our parking system back in 2016 and introducing standard peak and off-peak parking tariffs, we engaged our independent access consultant to advise us on the accessibility of the system from a physical infrastructure perspective as well as the charges themselves and the equitability of this. We also engaged with our visitors, groups, tenants and local residents and included a meeting with our Access Forum made up of organisations that represent disabled people as well as regular Park users who have a disability or an interest in access issues. The feedback was that many disabled people expect to pay for parking so long as reasonable adjustments are made for their needs. Blue Badge holders continue to have spaces closest to the main facilities, and all visitors have a 30-minute grace period in which to exit the Park after payment is made at one of our car park pay machines. We have regular groups for disabled people, such as Peterborough Sailability and Walks for Health, which are registered to use the Park. Members of these groups are issued with a code which exempts them from paying for parking whilst they are participating in registered activities. We believe that our parking system is fair and represents good value for money as it enables visitors to pay only for the time they are in the Park. We currently offer a parking membership scheme which is also great value for money for regular visitors. At £70 per year, parking membership works out at just £1.35 per week. We hope that this explains the reasons behind our parking charges and reassures you that the money we generate helps us in continuing to provide facilities for everybody to enjoy. Thank you again for your review and we do hope that you may consider visiting the Park again in the future.

A lovely spot
jul. 2020
I know this place from my childhood when we used to cycle around the open pits well before the Park was created. It's amazing that we didn't fall in- very steep walls.
Now, it's a wonderful place for all to enjoy the fresh air & a river going through it.
Well done Peterborough Council.

Thanks for your lovely review, and we are pleased you appreciate just how far the area has come since those gravel pits! It was the Peterborough Development Corporation (PDC) that developed the Park in the 1970s as part of the expansion of the City. In 1988, the PDC was disbanded, and Nene Park Trust was formed as an independent charitable trust to manage the Park for future generations to enjoy. Nene Park Trust is a registered charity responsible for generating all of its own income and receives no government funding. All income generated is spent on the operation and development of the Park. Thanks again for your review and we hope to welcome you back soon!
