A great little museum with lots of information about Harrogate and it's history. With videos to watch explaining how the area became so popular.

Interesting, but compact museum. Lots of information on boards. I expected to see more of the actual therapy rooms
Sadly no longer exist.

Well worth a visit. Lots of information on years gone by, with videos etc. helpful friendly staff who were very knowledgeable. Well at the back of the building which still worked. Beautiful building with stained glass windows.

Only small but more than just the history of the Harrogate waters.
A really interesting history of Harrogate linked to the Spa and treatments.
Helpful staff.
Smell the water - how anyone drank it is a mystery ?!

I love a museum. £3.80 entry. But it literally only takes half hour to get round and read everything, and I mean ‘everything. Definitely not 1 hour.

A small but interesting little museum, in the centre of Harrogate.
Lots of curious little items, and it was interesting to find out more.
I especially loved the old photographs, giving different views of old Harrogate.
We spent just 50 minutes here, but it is not expensive at £3.80 price tag.
If you wish to find out more about the history of this lovely town, a trip here will give you what you need.

Wonderful visit to the Pump Rooms when in Harrogate last week. Such an interesting small museum with lovely welcoming. enthusiastic staff. Loved the displays and videos - such in depth information about Harrogate and the spa bars and treatments. Would deffo recommend a visit and cheap at the price at £3 entrance fee and right next to the free Mercer Art Gallery too.

This was closed when we first tried to visit so checked the opening times and returned a few days later .
Situated in the heart of Harrogate it has a small entrance fee. We were greeted by a very enthusiastic volunteer (who later greeted us at an art gallery!)
Well laid out with plenty of information regarding the history and growth of Harrogate as people came to take the waters - you must smell the sulphur!
I don't know if children would find it interesting as it entails a lot of reading.

Fairly small museum, a few minutes walk from the centre of Harrogate detailing the history of the town back to the Victorian era. Well set out, interesting artefacts and descriptions, and a treat to smell the sulphur water! Doesn't cost much to yet in, lasts around 40 minutes or so. Lovely little experience.

This is a great museum and very Tardis-like inside as it’s much bigger than it appears. It tells the story of Harrogate and its growth as a spa town. Lots of information panels and lots to see inside with recreated shops showing a number of exhibits. It ends in the dispensing room where the spa waters were originally served and you can smell one of the more sulphurous waters. Only takes about 30-40minutes to tour but it’s only a few pound and worth it to support a lovely museum.
Only downsides is that you can’t actually taste the waters (I’ve been in similar places where you still can), and you can’t get into the room with the springs although you can see them through a glass floor.

Not aware that you need to book. Just pay on entry as we did back in June even though signage at the door indicated pre-booking necessary. Place was not that busy.
