We as a family of 5 stopped here as part of our sightseeing of Gloucester. Our children range from 9 to 13.
Firstly the entry fee family ticket 2 adults and 3 children was just £12 very good value.
The museum itself is excellent. Extensive but accessible information. Great displays and good use of touchscreens and fun activities for all my children.
Definitely worth a visit if you have an hour and a nice selection of gifts with many at pocket money prices.
A great place and glad we went.

We called here on our way home from holiday, the museum is a little gem. It’s packed full of information on the Gloucestershire regiments. Back this up with great displays of uniforms going back to the Napoleonic era right up to modern times and the units change of roles. Well worth the time to visit.

A tank in front sets the scene for an interesting account of two army regiments.
With the aid of posters, colours, uniforms, paintings, and more their history, activity and duty in many parts of the world is told.
One watercolour shows the Officers uniforms during their many years, from around 1694 till 1910,

Does what it says on the tin. A well laid-out museum telling the story of the two country regiments - the Glosters and the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars. A good selection of artefacts - uniforms, weapons, silver etc backed up with well-written text and displays. The fiver (there are concessions, including for veterans) admission is worth it.

I had been in the area previously but this was the first time that I found this museum open. It is an interesting small military museum over three levels. There is quite a range of history on show mostly about the Gloucester Regiment and the Royal Gloucester Hussars. The entry fee was modest at £5 for adults and concessions a pound less.

Excellent museum on all levels and for all ages. Good explainations / labelling across the years and various campains Also the social conditions in the C18th century were explored, and the harsh arrangements for widows of sodiers , who wete expected to quickly find a new (replacement) husband or be evicted, along with any offspring.
The bravery and tradgey of the Gloster regiment during the Korean Police action (war) of the early 1950s, this naturally figures strongly, and is explained well, not ommitting some very unpleasant details, but it is certainly worth spending time to delve into the rear guard action that helped save South Korea.
This is a real gem, and an intreging place for visitors of all ages.

Absolutely fantastic place. The guide and the manager chatted with us for ages. There was an old soldier there the day we went and we also chatted to him. The museum has recently moved and it's now in Jury Street. Really easy to find.

Set around Gloucester Quay…..we spent a good hour reading and walking round the museum. It cost us £4 each as seniors and even though we weren’t particularly interested in the Gloucester Regiments, we both found it very interesting and well done. I even learnt some new interesting facts!! Friendly staff too and a small cafe serving cakes and drinks.

One for the military historians, or those interested in the British Army regiments or with family ties. It offers an excellent - well-written and well-illustrated with well-chosen exhibits - history of the regiment, up to the modern day (post-amalgamation into the Rifles Regiment). Strong sense of the individual soldier comes through, including the bravery and mundanity of infantry life.
Cost was relatively high though, and would probably rule out a family visit. While the small shop was directed towards children, the museum as a whole was not (although there were some parts dedicated to children).

We visited here during the Summer Holidays where there was a trail to do which the youngest enjoyed trying to find secret letters. There is quite a range of miltary stuff cramed in to what is quite a small musuem but worth the visit & would imagine we'll be going back at some point.

Did the Gloucestshire regiment fight with Montgomery in North Africa?

Morning. Soldiers from Gloucestershire were certainly involved in the North Africa campaigns. There is a link on the website (look under Timeline and then Operation Crusader) and we have a permanent display in the Museum covering this period. Hope that helps.
