Great place to stop on route to Yorkshire. Very helpful staff. Well maintained museum. Plus, a visit here is FREE!

A fine example of a Georgian townhouse that also acted as a showhome for the architect, want to buy a house - come for dinner and see mine! Downstairs is the Georgian house. The first floor currently has an interesting exhibition about Florence Nightingale and nursing. The second floor has a watercolour exhibition of Derbyshire people at work which is very good. Very friendly, helpful staff. Lovely wildlife and Georgian gardens.

Free parking accessed from the street behind (Agard Street)though ensure you are in the right hand lane and look out for the sign as easily missed!
Museum free but obviously donations welcomed. Staff welcoming and helpful explaining what to see etc and museum surprisingly quiet on a wet day. Highly interesting to all ages. Don`t think there`s a lift and it is over several floors. Has extra exhibitions eg Florence Nightingale/home health and local occupations art exhibition. An excellent way of spending a couple of hours.

It's a small but fascinating museum that I've visited many times. Lots to see and read about and knowledgeable guides.

Great little museum that is good to visit on a cold/wet Derby day. Lots of history and interesting antiques. Good place to while away 2 hours.

The house is a great place to visit when in Derby, it is a short walk from the main city centre.
It has a mix of restored Georgian rooms and art exhibitions to wander around.
We were welcomed by a lovely volunteer who explained the history of the house.
What's even better is that it is free entrance.

This house provided an interesting reconstruction of how the space would have been used. Everything was well presented and provided an insight into the lives of the former occupants. There's no entry charge which was a pleasant surprise, and volunteers are on hand to answer any questions.

Excellent find - and free to visit and free car park. However went round the block three times before we found it - and the car park requires very careful negotiation, and moving to the centre of the road before you can turn in. Pity there was no brochure/guidebook to take away, although we were told we could photograph any exhibit or descriptive notices... Lots of steps, so maybe not the best location if you are mobility impaired. We were just in time to catch the couture exhibition - the clothes of Marchioness Curzon of Kedleston. Really good (says my wife...) Lots of fascinating bits and pieces and accessories from the 1920s/30s. The house itself was very interestingly dressed, though some items in the rooms had been moved and didn't match the descriptive sheets which explained what everything was! Well worth a couple of hours - and make a gift-aided donation when you leave!
