Lovely park to walk around once you could figure out where to go. The downsides though were the vile toilets (at 9.30am?) and the very lacklustre cafe. It was also expensive to park. The play areas are good but could do with some tlc like moss removal and a bit of paint on the railings to freshen things up.

fantastic park, with nice plays area, great walks for dogs and a tree surfing type activity. Only spoilt by a rather tatty cafe with limited menu.

A lovely trip up to Lydia’s Park on a hot July day. The grounds are huge and there are lots of lovely places to stop and take in the nature. We stopped for an ice cream in the cafe which was tasty and refreshing. Really lovely to sit by the pond and watch the wild life. On route back to the car we were greeted by some beautiful (but very smelly!) horses.

This is a place in Swindon that everyone must visit. The grounds are lovely especially for dog walkers. And finish with a coffee, what more could you want? There’s always something going on here, the Steam shows must be seen, especially the craft tents. My now adult daughter had a birthday party here with a BBQ when she was younger. The museum is worth a visit and not expensive. But for me, it’s the walk around the grounds with my dogs. An absolute pleasure

this is a nice place to walk and have a cup of tea the house is not big but good to look around
the grounds are so nice to see you can walk around the lake and then have a drink before you go home

... but the House / museum itself is worth a visit in its own right. The £5 entry was well worth it as the house has lots of beautiful articles as well as a superb decor. Well-recommended !

Great place to walk with dogs , plenty of open space and pathways. The walled garden is very peaceful with a lovely memorial of poppies for our service men and women, very touching. Stopped for coffee at the tearoom, a lovely morning well spent

We attended yesterday for Afternoon Tea and see the walled garden. We arrived earlier than planned so saw the walled garden and then mooched around the park before heading for our afternoon tea. The fact we were early was not a problem and the food was really good and it was certainly value for money, we ended up taking home what we had not eaten.
I’ve a gluten intolerance so my sandwiches had been made Int he morning and the sandwich fillings were different than the ‘normal ones’ but all in all a fabulous time was had by all.
A further mooch around the lake afterwards and a little sit a while waiting for Mr Darcy to arrive and then home to eat up the rest of our afternoon tea.

Had a lovely picnic in the field in front of the house. This was so much better than any motorway service station. Parking reasonably priced, there are also toilets and a big cafe. Less than ten minutes off the M40. Nice little lake with very tame ducks.

Parking reasonable price. Takes pay by phone app if you don't have change. Play parks were really good, good size & plenty to do. Public toilets were ok. Grounds were lovely to walk around. You could spend all day here with a picnic & good weather.

How much is it get into the house and garden? Is it LIKE National Trust?

The Park, House and walled Garden are not part of the National Trust, or English Heritage property portfolio.
It is owned and managed under the umbrella of Swindon Borough Council.
Car parking available on site, at a cost, but there are various footpath entrances too.
Facilities vary throughout the year, and looking at the Lydiard Park website should be able to answer many of your questions.
Does it have pram access? And is it breastfeeding friendly? I want to bring my 4week old to this lovely park.

There is a good track all the way round and prays, wheelchairs can access the whole track. Please not that after bad weather some parts of the track can become quite muddy, (mainly the wooded areas on the far side. I've seen others breastfeeding in more secluded areas and in my opinion I can't see any issues. it might be worth checking with the rangers office first to make sure it's ok to do so.

Yes, it is wheelchair friendly.. I am not sure about the actual house itself but you can get around the park in a chair with relative ease.

I don't think there's a bus directly to the main entrance to the park - however, if you don't mind a 5-10 minute walk, the Stagecoach 55 service drops you off at Windmill Hill and you can take a stroll to the park from there. Alternatively, if you take the bus into Swindon central and pick up one of the Thamesdown buses from the main bus station, there is a service (1/1A) that runs behind the park. If you get off on Hay Lane, you can walk down to Lydiard House and church then on into the park itself.

Yes the park is free to enter but there is a car park charge of £2 for up to 2 hours or £4 all day. The admission prices for the house and garden can be found on the Lydiard Park website. Thanks
