We visited Calderfields for our 1st wedding anniversary, as we got married there the year before, we booked in for the Sunday carvery, there were 8 of us, the food was really good and we had a good time, until we received the bill, The bill came to £305 and me being to trusting just inserted my card and paid, it was only when my daughter looked at the bill and realised they had charged us for 16 carveys, I spoke with the manager who checked then came over to refund me £147, only in his infinite wisdom took another £147 out of my account, so I'm now £452 for 8 carverys, it took another member of staff to be able to sort out the refund, I emailed Calderfields 5 days ago to speak with someone, and as of yet they can not be arsed to email back, so in all the food was lovely, but make sure you check the bill

I’ve just noticed there’s 3 tripadvisor accounts for the same place, and I feel it only fair to warn people on all of these accounts. This place is by far the worse place me and my wife have ever had the mid pleasure to stay. They’re false advertising is astonishing, and god help you if you make a complaint because you will be called a “liar” I honestly can’t believe the state of this place, and being offered it, I’m still gobsmacked to this day. When we went my car was in a garage so we couldn’t escape ‘colditz’ for the night, we were at a wedding with a night invitation only, so had to endure the room for about 4 hours before we could join the party. As we walked in, Donna, my wife lifted the lid on the toilet to be met with an offering left by the previous tenants, which she immediately flushed. But that was just the start. The toilet took a couple of flushes but the aftermath was much the same, then I thought I’d put the tv on. Well, that was to good to be true, the tv let’s put a constant high pitched screaming noise, until the picture completely distorts , then you can hear it ok. The towels were damp to touch, (so take your own) after this first ten minutes I started to look around, we pulled the bed quilt across and it looked and felt like someone had just got out of it after a week of lying in it. Decided to have a look on top of wardrobe, that resembled a bin, fag packets and a quarter inch of dust and general dirt, so onto the bathroom, the icing on the cake. The showerhead looked like something out of hostel. If you turn it on, the water eventually breaks through the brown concrete like scale and hits you in different areas. I asked for an exchange, a bloke came out and peered through the windows of all the pits…..sorry I mean pods and their wasn’t any, however after making a complaint about him not giving me another room, they tell you that they did, and then insinuate that you’re a liar. I have actually made a complaint by email about our stay, and asked for money back, but the manager has basically said “no chance” to this, I asked “who could I talk to higher to go forward with this”, and he’s told me it’s him, so basically tough luck. Basically they offer rooms with facilities. Then when you get there, they don’t work. I feel like I have to warn everyone about this, and will be going further and on every site to do so, please avoid and save yourselves, as I’m just reading a few new reviews and they seem to have dramatically got better from local people, I wonder why , lol. I’m going to try and put some pics on now, but couldn’t on the other review for some reason. WORST PLACE EVER.

A fantastic Sunday roast, from start to finish the experience was great. Attentive staff catering all our needs, food was first class, well cooked, seasonal and fresh. I couldn’t fault the overall experience Dan and his team made this a great family gathering thank you.

I stayed at Calderfields with 3 friends on a Sunday Driver golf break, taking into account the price point of our stay & play golf package my opinions are as follows;
The Positives;
I liked the log cabins with a view onto the golf course, they were comfortable & clean.
The Sunday Carvery was excellent.
The golf course was picturesque, enjoyable to play & a good test for any handicap golfer.
All the staff I had contact with were friendly & helpful, particularly Lisa who was a very nice lady who deserves a special mention.
The Negatives;
The poor lighting in the cabins needs to be looked at.
There are other minor negatives however they had no significant impact on our enjoyable stay at Calderfields so I will not go into details.
Conclusion;
An excellent place to stay & play golf, my friends & I will definitely be booking a golfing break at Calderfields next year.

Went for lunch yesterday to meet our best friends whom we had not seen since lockdown,the food and service was first class and with the offer made great value.we all felt very COVID safe and will certainly come back.

Having visited Caulderfield several times and had excellent meals, service and golf, tonight was very poor.
Firstly, the place was deserted, perhaps the weather. Soulless, we asked for the tele to be put on to give a little background noise. AND freezing. Sitting by the window didnt help, we moved.
Meal ordered fairly quickly, both ordering Hunters Chicken and chips. Microwaved im afraid, and it took the skin off your lips, frozen chips too. To be fair it tasted ok, but just pub food. Shame that as I was hoping for a special birthday dinner for the misses.
Couldn't get a dessert ordered as the chap had abandoned us, so we paid and left.
Couldn't bring myself to give one star as usually the place is great, but not tonight.
Still plenty of parking and the evening cost 30 squid for dinners and drinks.

We hadn’t been to the carvery at Calderfields for some time so were hopeful that the quality and service would be the same as our last visit. Despite a booking late in the afternoon, there was still a choice of 3 meats and a large selection of freshly cooked vegetables. There is a nice ambience here, far better than at other local carveries. The price had increased slightly since our last visit but I think is still worth it for the quality of food and pleasant surroundings.

We attended a group Christmas meal in late December.There were between 20 or 30 of us. We were seated in a lovely room overlooking the golf course. The first thing I noticed was that the glasses on the table were dirty. They were changed on request. The first course was adequate but the bread accompanying the page was white and limp with bits of half melted cheese. Not something I enjoyed. The main course was the biggest disappointment. We were presented with plates with a couple of slices of reformed turkey breast resting on soggy roast potatoes swimming in gravy. The vegetables peas, broccoli and carrots were served in dishes that had obviously been stacked one on top of the other as the contents were flattened, they were also too well cooked for my taste. The Christmas pudding was fine. I had never eaten there before and I certainly won't eat there again.

Thank you for your review. Since your visit we have changed our Food & Beverage Manager and issues such as dirty glasses have been taken on board.
With regards to the "Limp bread" this is chefs homemade Melba toast enthused with Parmesan cheese, slowly grilled to accompany the pate, a very popular dish over the festive season.
Our vegetables are steamed and i have passed on your comments about them looking stacked to the head chef.
We would love to see you back at our lakeview restaurant or join us for a Sunday carvery to be able to put your average experience right.

I would like to know more about their afternoon teas, what are in the sandwiches, cakes and do you get more than one cup of tea.
