I recently completed the Core Coach Training at Leam Boat Centre and it was fantastic!! I learnt so much and really developed my confidence. The tutor, Sophie, was wonderful and really knowledgeable!!! She was awesome. And all other staff at the centre - Sam, Jack and Tom - were equally friendly and supportive!!

Tried to buy a S.U.P board here.
Would not recommend. Don’t think the bloke knew what he was talking about.
I’d recommend going to desmes in Nottingham. Stock the same boards and much better knowledge.

Brilliant boat centre! The staff are all amazing - especially Sophie, Jack, Sam and Jordan. I have completed the intermediate kayak course and the beginner kayak course so far this year, and enjoyed them both so much that I have also done a couple of private lessons and booked to go on the sea kayak trip to Anglesey and to do my paddle instructor award in October! I’ve learnt so much, and met some wonderful people. The staff work so hard too, and complete really long days, but they are always positive and clearly love what they do.
It’s so much fun and I now love kayaking and cannot wait to learn more from LBC.

Fabulous experience from start to finish! Upon arrival (a little later than scheduled due to struggling to park and then getting lost) we were greeted by a lovely gentleman (we will call him Warwick), he sorted us out with our reservation and paddleboards - gave us each nicknames - I was Pizza (due to my t-shirt...I hope), mate was Watership down (tattoo) and cannot remember what the men were called. Sent us off on our way after a quick guidance session.
When we got back he again was very informative about what was around and next time we go back.
Honestly the whole team were super helpful and we had a really great hour out on the paddleboards. Recommend it totally!
Such a fabulous location! So pleased we did it and will 100% be back for longer next time!

We had an amazing time doing the taster paddleboard session yesterday. Both Sam and Mitch were friendly and helpful throughout the whole time. They made the whole two hours fun and informative at the same time. Everyone in our group enjoyed themselves and we will definitely be back to do some more paddle boarding. Thanks a lot Sam

We will pass on this positive feedback to Sam and Mitch - I'm sure they'll both be pleased to hear it! We always love hearing about people's experiences on our sessions. There's loads of paddleboarding sessions you can get involved with; have you seen our Thursday evening SUP club?!

Me and my partner did the kayaking taster experience and it was amazing I can not recommend it enough, all the staff were very kind and helpful, I was very nervous and apprehensive about it as I've never done anything like it before but our instructor was so calm, friendly and knowledgeable it made me feel so at ease and I was able to enjoy the experience to the max. Thank you 😊

Hi Alice, we're so pleased that you had a good experience on your taster session with us! We love being able to cater for people of all abilities. It's never easy trying a new sport especially a floating one so it's great to hear that our coaches made you feel comfortable. We hope to see you out on the water again soon!

Everyone at leam boat centre are incredibly welcoming and inclusive! I have been many times with my ranger unit and they always make our paddle boarding sessions a great experience, I have autism and really struggle to talk to people I do not know, however, the staff were really helpful and supportive of my needs and I never felt anxious about going there :)
They are an amazing team who are enthusiastic about what they do and are very organised, I would 100% recommend them to anyone and their family or company!!

Went for a great paddle with the family, and had a nice coffee and ice cream afterwards!
Honestly, the coffee is amazing, with fruity undertones, from talking to them i believe they’ve recently got a new machine.
The staff always have been really friendly and will continue to go back for many years to come

Want an empowering experience?
Well the Leam Boat Centre crew are amazing. Sophie, Jordan and the deckhands made us feel welcome and shared their paddling experience, knowledge and love of the sport with us. We had a great experience trying out some different iSUP boards and various paddles all in aid of charity. Everyone was testing the Red Paddle Co and Jobe boards to limit and laughing along the way. The equipment is in good condition and kept clean and tidy. Any questions we had were answered in a friendly yet professional manner on the river and the deck by the team.
For those who would like to try various boards in furture there is a SUP Club run on a Thursday night, which is a great opportunity try stand up Paddleboarding for the first time or for the novice to find a board that seriously suits them all in the care of coach. The SUP club coaches are can support you on your journey through step back turns, edging, paddle stroke correction and more. Its so lovely to meet other like minded people who want to be empowered on the water too!
Equally I can highly recommend a private lesson on the River Leam to enhance confidence with Reece, Jack or Jordan. These private lessons can prepare you for river trips to the River Wye and beyond. The skills you learn are bespoke to your needs.
In a group setting you can also do courses at the Leam Boat Centre like a Foundation Safety & Rescue Training where you can learn new skills in self rescue, rescuing different craft from your SUP and Safety awareness while paddling, which is really empowering.
Here's to exploring the natural wonders of the world by SUP!

My sons scout group recently visited the boat centre and our troop leader circulated a feedback request email that was sent by the boat centre. My son absolutely loved the session that the staff delivered although he did get very cold at the end. It sure does appear that the centre has had a turnaround in their staffing from 2021 and that is lovely to see.
