This is one of Paris' major rail stations situated in the Montparnasse area of the city. We used this station for outbound journey to Bordeaux recently and found the station fit for purpose.
Station is organised just fine, easy to navigate. Found our platform without problem, boarded train and were on our way. There are a fair number of casual eateries, some retail shops and access to the RER Station for connections further within the city.
Would be perfectly fine taking rail trips out or arriving at Gare Montparnasse again in the future.

Officers not overwhelmed. Especially if you don't need anything turn to them!
Really I understand that the SNcf is frowned upon by the customers. It is heartbreaking to see that there is not one to accompany you in an exchange process. We make them sweat, they don't care and they don't even hide it.
To recite ready-made sentences they arise there but the customer relationship they do not know.

Literally horrible because of one of their train which does not show the route preferring to put forward their job offer and the track at the entrance of the train did not say it either, we are in a train not serving our station, therefore we arrived to Paris montparnasse, with a train for the reverse route which will start we go to the ticket machine (which did not take the reductions elsewhere) near the track but this one does not give us a route that we can select and the train left in front of our eyes, then we had to take back yet another train ticket without reduction at 10 € total cost we lost part of our evening because of a train which instead of saying and writing the destinations only bought us in loop their job offer while seeing our stops fill one after the other in front of our eyes.

It's a big Station, which connects most French cities, big & small ones.
It has a connection to Montparnasse metro station,but you have to walk a lot with luggage, no electric escaliers, you have to lift your luggage ups & downs.
It has a lot of shops, also big McDonald's.

4 of us missed the train to Bordeaux '2023 Rugby World Cup' but then had one night in Paris as a bonus (France vs. New Zealand on TV in a bar) before travelling to Bordeaux the next day. The train station even has a grass area outside to have a rest... 1st class night.

0 stars if possible, blatant harassment and corruption. Absolutely disgusting, especially while hosting the Olympics. Disgrace and embarrassment of a nation.
My friend and I were returning from Cannes on our way to Nice. He bought two tickets but we were separated in the throng of people boarding the train and ended up sitting in different cars. When the conductor came to me I showed my ticket, which he said had already been scanned. I explained that my friend probably just sent me the wrong ticket that he had already scanned. My friend sent me the other, and then the hostility began. The train official kept badgering me saying that I was not Jon, whom I’m obviously not. I kept reiterating that my friend had purchased two tickets and he was in a different car. He said I don’t care.
I kept asking to just buy another ticket on the app or pay in cash for another ticket. He said because I had already shown a ticket with a different name, it was a fine of €70. That fine then fluctuated over the course of the conversation to €100 then €150, then eventually back to €70. Keep in mind these tickets were €9.
He then brought over a military cop who said nothing but whose presence was clearly meant to intimidate me. As a young female traveler sitting alone away from my friend, I felt incredibly unsafe and violated and paid the fine for fear of being detained otherwise. This would absolutely never happen in America nor most other “first world” countries. I find this particularly disgraceful and quite honestly embarrassing for the Olympics host country.
As a French Canadian by parentage I’d always loved France and the language and culture. This completely destroyed any positive view of the country and affirmed that the social media perspectives of its poorly managed public service are indeed unfortunately true.
I sent a complaint to the US Embassy but hopes are low of any resolution. The SNCF likely will continue being able to enjoy taking advantage of young tourists and their willingness to pay rather than face foreign detention. Shame on France.

We recently had an exceptional experience with the SNCF staff during an unexpected delay in Paris. Our train from Germany was significantly delayed, causing us to miss our connecting trains, including the last one to Bordeaux. Feeling stranded, we were immediately met with understanding and excellent service from the SNCF team.
In particular, Alexandre, with his striking blue eyes, and Pascal went above and beyond to assist us. They were both incredibly helpful, ensuring we were well taken care of despite the inconvenience. Thanks to their efforts, we were able to spend a comfortable night in Paris and catch the first morning train to Bordeaux, well-rested and stress-free.
We are deeply grateful for their kindness and professionalism. This experience truly highlighted the exceptional customer service of SNCF.

If you want a fast and qualitative service you can pass your way, apart from Alexandre with blue eyes the TOTALITY of agents with whom I was able to speak in ticket booth was most unpleasant (disrespectful, unprofessional, mockery, lack of reflection and failure to meet the expected contractual services subscribed, despite the purchase of insurance on my ticket none deigned to look into the subject, constantly asking me to buy a ticket ignoring the rights conferred by the purchase of insurance (DO NOT TAKE INSURANCE THIS WILL ONLY USE YOU IN CASE OF DEATH ON THE TRAIN: what a nice idea to offer insurance at almost 10 euros so that it will only serve you if you die in the train, ironic right?
I still want to salute the ONLY person who knew how to listen and find a solution, Alexandre with blue eyes, who, despite my manifest irritation (more than 5 people consulted before after 10 minutes of waiting each time because these people apparently had to finish a conversation between colleagues while people wait, among these 5 people ALL managed to be perfectly disrespectful, haughty and patronizing which is at the height when you occupy a customer service position, a change of vocation is necessary in front of these agents lacking rigor and professionalism.)
Once again a BIG thank you to the only person who knew how to take into account my request in a more than professional way and respond to it as quickly as possible by trying all possible solutions without just asking stupidly to buy a ticket, my Rating of 1/5 is for the rest of the team, Alexandre on his side conveys the good mood and largely raises the bar especially when the rest of the team is so infuriating 5/5 for Alexandre

Hi , anyone know how easy it is from Montparnasse station to CHARLES de Gaulle T2?, I’m a bit worried by some of the stations difficulty comments, particularly as I have a bad hip & will have luggage...Any help would be received gratefully...

I'm probably late, but for others who need the information:
If you have been using Uber to get around Paris, taking luggage to the airport is not the time to start using public transportation.
For all others: From Montparnasse, you can take line 4. To avoid long corridors and stairs, get in at Place du 18 June. This will take you straight to the Gare du Nord, where you can get the RER line to the airport.
For information, from Paris left bank to Charlds De Gaulle the price, at the moment, is legally set at 50€.

Have to use TGV from Gare Montparnasse to Bordeaux (St Jean). How easy is it to find the correct track? Do I have to validate my ticket prior to boarding? If yes -how

You need to go till the second floor and then look at the display board to check the track details. They are usually updated not before 20 minutes before departure. The tickets will be validated/checked by the Ticket collectors when you are in the train, you can also validate it at the entrance of the track.

Yes, there are trains from Montparnasse to Venice: try trainline web site for a list, it takes 15-17 hours.

Hi Medina143 - are you related to Medina142? ANyway, the hotel is across the street from the station. Exit Rue du Commandant Mouchotte, go right and half way don't the long block is the hotel on the opposite side of the street.
