We have toured previously with Tour Designer and were eager to do so again.
Unfortunately, we booked our tour just before the pandemic outbreak. All our communications were very responsive and professional and we easily customized a tour for our family. As soon as we realized we would be unable to travel we requested a refund. Emma replied in a couple of days and our credit card was refunded immediately.
Again, we are very impressed with the company. We are looking forward to touring with them in the future.

If I could give this company more than 5 stars I would. We spent 3 full days with Alex and it was the best 3 days of our 14 day trip. We went on a Mediterranean Cruise and in each port we had private tours for the most part (10 different guides). He out shone them all! We ended in Nice and then went to Aix-en-Provence to finish our trip on land. Alex was so informative, personable, adaptable, punctual, had impeccable English and took us to places and provided information not available on "general" tours. We were able to explore the whole area - St. Remy, Arles, Aix, Nimes, Pont du Gard, Uzes, Les Baux, Rousilloon, Gordes, etc. We had 3 full days and loved every minute of it. When I return, I will request Alex.

This was our 2nd trip to Aix and our 2nd time using Tour Designer in Provence. We would highly recommend them. We requested our favorite tour guide - Nathalie Smith - and they were quick to accommodate us. Nathalie is excellent! She is experienced and willing to adapt plans to whatever we felt like doing. She also will help with connections outside the tour. I wanted to take a watercolor class while in Aix and within a day had found me a terrific teacher. We will be returning to Aix in 2020 and look forward to working with Tour Designer again.

The five of us spent a full day with Alex learning about the Roman system of water delivery in this part of Provence. In the morning we saw the aqueduct at Pont du Gard and Alex gave us a detailed tour of the museum that is located at that site. It was very informative. We then moved on to Uzes which was where the spring was located that provided the source of water that flowed over the aqueduct. Finally, later in the afternoon we visited Nimes and learned how the water flowed into the city and was distributed. We also saw the well preserved, impressive Roman arena and temple at Nimes. Alex was very entertaining, informative, and cordial - we enjoyed interacting with him the entire day. If we went to Nimes again, we might consider touring the arena. Since we had seen the Coliseum in Rome and for the sake of time, we decided to forego the interior tour, but this arena is so well preserved that it just might be worth seeing the interior.

We booked our tour through Tour Designer. We were a group of 10 people who were on the Oasis of the Seas. Alex and Paul were waiting at the cruise port to pick us up. We had the post amazing day with them both. They gave us such a wealth of history about the towns as well as showing us the hidden beauty. My family felt it was the best part of our trip. They were also mindful about getting us back to port with more than enough time to make our cruise departure. A+ all the way. The communication from the tour operator was fantastic. I highly recommend them to work with for your travel needs.

We booked a full-day tour of the Luberon. Our tour guide, Alex was fantastic – he took us to many lavender fields and I was able to take some beautiful photos. It was a very hot day but having the air conditioned van and a tailored tour was a big help. Alex had a wealth of historical information which was much appreciated. We had also asked for a wine-tasting stop and that was a lovely time. Highly recommend this tour company.

We did a private tour of Aix-en-Provence and Cassis. Our guide was very professional and informative and went above and beyond to make our tour a memorable one. The hilltop views of Cassis were spectacular. It was a perfect blend of guided tour and free time to wander.

Our group of four tourists was extremely pleased with our customized small group tour with our tour guide Nathalie. She was flexible about what we wanted to do during our day together and was also able to provide several recommendations for us to eat and experience nature, wine and the sea. We would not hesitate to recommend the company and Natalie in particular for her joyful accommodation of our needs. She made our experience unforgettable.

We had 3 days of tours with this company and really saw and learned a lot. I wished we would have had some free time in St Remy to wander the shops and had stopped in a lived-in town in the Luberon rather than just tourist towns but I don't expect a tour company to know what I would like before I do. I would definitely take a tour with this company again.

Catherine was extremely knowledgeable. The places she took us were breathtaking. She was flexible and understanding. She really listens to what you are interested in. She was not afraid to make stops along the tour based on our interests. We were a small group - only three of us -- but it was so worth the small group experience with someone who really knows the area. We traveled with a teenager (14) and she also enjoyed the trip and all the places we stopped. I highly recommend Catherine.

We are cruising Amsterdam to Lisbon ( 4 days post cruise in Lisbon then train to Paris and then hoping to travel south by TGV to Provence for 4-5 days.
Did you ask Catherine to put a schedule together for several days and did you leave it to her ? What was your favourite items.

Dear Frank,
Thank you for your request.
I am availble on June 12 and would be dleighted to help you discover Provence.
Here are below the day-trips available from Marseille that will immerse you in the Provencal atmosphere:
1 - Aix-en-Provence, Cezanne // OR Aix, Cezanne, Marseille - We start the day in Aix-en-Provence: visit of the city with its sumptuous 17th and 18th architecture, its nice terraces, its lovely streets with fountains singing all over. There will be the market in Aix, where you'll find all the local specialties, food and crafts. We will focus on the painter Cezanne and take a scenic road going to the Mount Sainte Victoire which was one of his favorite subjects. Wine tasting in a lovely winery at the foot of the mountain (7 Euros per person in 2017) if you ike the idea. Visit of the painter Cezanne's last studio if this is of interest to you OR panoramic drive through Marseille to discover the highlights of the city. If you like the idea it's alaos possible to walk/hike at the foot of the Mount Sainte Victoire. This would be e different day for your teens.
2 - You spend the day in the mountain range of Luberon. You discover this wonderful part of Provence, crossing sumptuous countryside and lovely quaint villages such as the amazing Gordes perched on the Mountains of Vaucluse, the colorful Roussillon with its former ochre quarry OR the mysterious Lacoste with the castle of the Marquis de Sade… Gordes and Roussillon are the most touristy villages in the area. I have an off the beaten path option including the hidden village of Goult, the ghost village of Oppede, the quiet Menerbes, and the mysterious Lacoste OR another option giving you the opportunity to cross the mountain range visting the villages of Menerbes, Lacoste, Bonnieux and Lourmarin.
Good shoes required because most of the villages are hilly with stone cobbled streets sometimes in bad condition.
You'll be driven through lovely hidden roads of Luberon with farms, bories (dry stone constructions)…
A very interesting area from the historical point of view due to the wars between Catholics and Protestants that took place there and a very nice day-trip in the heart of Provence.
3 - Aix en Provence and Cassis - We start in Aix as suggested in #1 and we spend the rest of the day in the little fishing port of Cassis which is famous for its location itself between cliffs, sea and vineyards and for its Calanques (kind of little fjords with high limestone cliffs) we could see by boat, weather permitting. Afterwards, we will go on the top of the cliff Cap Canaille to have a breathtaking view on the port and the Provencal countryside.
4 - Avignon, St Remy de Provence, Van Gogh - We start the day seeing the historical centre of Avignon including the awesome Palace of the Popes if you like monuments (it takes about 1h30 to visit it) the famous bridge, the Rhône river, the 14th century city walls. The rest of the time will be spent in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence which is a charming little town where the painter Van Gogh spent one year (hospital where he stayed, which is a former priory, to visit, 30 minutes).
5 - The fabulous area of les Alpilles in depth: We will explore this beautiful mountain range, its sweet countryside with olive trees and vineyards, the impressive village of les Baux de Provence, olive oil tasting, St Remy and Van Gogh including the Asylum where Van Gogh spent one year. Time permitting, we wil stop in the lovely village of Eygalières that I like very much and that is not as touristy as les Baux. In les Baux, it is possible to visit Carriere de Lumieres which is a light show taking place in a former stone quarry. The program in 2018 is about Picasso and the Spanish Masters. This is a very moving artistic experience. If you do the Carrieres de Lumieres we likely won't have any time for Eygalieres
6 - Marseilles / Cassis
You start the day in the very often unknown but so picturesque and wonderful town of Marseilles located in a sumptuous spot on the shore of the Mediterranean. We will discover the highlights of the city: the Old Port, heart of the city, the very new MUCEM museum and St John Fortress, the hilltop church of Notre Dame de la Garde that offers the most amazing viewpoint, the road along the sea...
The rest of the day will be spent in the little fishing port Cassis (see above).
7 - Les Baux de Provence, Arles and van Gogh
You start in les Baux mentioned in #5, and discover the Roman and Romanesque town of Arles in the afternoon. You'll discover the remarkable Roman heritage of the place: Roman amphitheatre, ruins of the Roman theatre but also the outstanding Romanesque church of St trophime and its incredible gate that is like an open Bible and the sites painted by Van Gogh.
Price and service:
Your guide (myself or the other experienced toir guide working with me) comes to pick you up to the ship in the morning, drives and guides you through the different places in a comfortable 8 seater air-conditioned minivan, makes a reservation in a good casual restaurant for lunch (but we can also skip it and grab a sandwich on our way or have a picnic lunch since you have a limited time frame) and drives you back to the ship at the end of the day.
Price for 2 persons: 490 Euros, all the car expenses are included (fuel, highway, parking...) but not extra costs such as drinks, lunch with the guide, entrance fees, boat ride in Cassis, wine tasting fees sometimes...
Price for 3/4 persons: 520 Euros, same conditions.
Price for 5 persons: 550 Euros, same conditions.
Price for 6 persons: 580 Euros, same conditions.
Price for 7 persons: 600 Euros, same conditions.
Price for 8 persons: 630 Euros, same conditions.
It would be easier to communicate if you could contact me directly. I am not allowed to give you my address through this message but you can look for the name of my company and you'll find it.
