I've wanted to visit this building for 30+ years and finally I did and wasn't disappointed. We had lunch in the restaurant and did then did the tour. Restaurant food is lovely although wouldn't suit picky eaters - check the seasonal menu before booking as these are the only choices. When you book, the email gives you a half hour slot, please do not assume that this means you can turn up at any point during that half hour slot - the reservation is at the beginning of this time slot.

I visited her twice. Once alone and once on a guided tour. Essential Guide: Odile, and she's great. The place is singular in more ways than one. Built as a boat on the principle of collectivist community housing. The witness apartment is in very bad condition, we must restore!!!! If we forget the foul ideology of Le Corbusier, the building is impressive in several ways: concrete, openings, orientation, style, etc. Visit the 3rd and 4th floors: shops, tea room with the charming Rachel, etc.

To be seen as part of the history of architecture, a concept that was revolutionary and opened many urban reflections. The quality of the service at the restaurant bar especially encourages you not to have a drink...

There were 20 of us on the 2pm tour, in French.
Lasted nearly 2 hours, inside and out.
Concept and history well explained by expert guide.
Visited one of the preserved rooms, supposedly for 4 people!
Went on roof, past the (expensive) hotel and visited other areas.
Time passed quickly and learnt a lot to add to our visit to Roquebrune.
The experiment of a ‘town’ hasn’t really worked but it’s a fascinating building.

The radiant city is worth the detour, however the signage is more than sparse and the parking capacity is zero.
Damage.

Modern architectural style even in today's times. Absolutely worth seeing. Parking in front of the house. Closed on 2.5.24 due to private event.

At the beginning of the 1950s, Le Corbusier planned the construction of this condominium, conceived as a self-sufficient "village", where everything - from the size of the apartments to their furnishings - was rational and punctual. A utopian vision - even more so in the 1950s and after the war - of living together in a common environment. Today the building (of which the third and fourth floors can be visited, used as offices, professional studios and part of the terrace on the ninth floor) is in fair condition although it would require some maintenance work, certainly made demanding by the architectural value and by the need to preserve the artefact. To be seen.

Personally, it is the most interesting attraction in the whole city, far from the crowded itineraries of cruise tourists.
After Marseille had been devastated by Nazi bombing during the war, Le Corbusier wanted to move on from the pre-existing architecture and invented this impressive construction which recreated the useful services of an entire city in a single large structure: apartments private individuals, but also schools, chapels, shops, boutiques, hotels, courtyards, sports facilities, interior design studios, design studios, medical practices and lots of greenery, with a special eye on the use and functional distribution of interior spaces. An entire citadel, in short, in a single large complex of several buildings, but which at the sight of the visitor formed a single construction.
A revolutionary architectural style for the time (the forties and fifties of post-war reconstruction), which will be an inspiration for subsequent architects of today.
UNESCO world heritage site

A beautiful aging ensemble which deserves to be upgraded to environmental standards. The setting and design remain exceptional.

We are in a cruise stopping in Marseilles on a Sunday (Sept 2022). We are trying to find a Tour or a Tour Guide in English for the Cite Radieuse Le Corbusier.

Where should you park your car if you would like to awoid having someone Breaking into your car White visiting le Corbusier?
Skrevet 13. juli 2018
We parked near the building in the street ( in the inner part of the boulevard). We spent the night there and nothing happened. If you spend the night in the hotel you can park in the area of le Corbusier which is connected to the street (there is no gate or bar)

It is actually a hotel with shops and museum, so It is open everyday.
Opening hours of the museum (MAMO) is Wednesday to Sunday 11am to 6pm
Remember to go to the roof and enjoy the nice view there.
Skrevet 12. mai 2017
is there a entry fee. what are the timings
i arrive on the 12th march in the morning and leave the city in the afternoon
Skrevet 5. mars 2017
It is free and open. It's a building that people live and work in. Go to the entrance underneath the centre of the building and sign the visitor book. You can go to floors 3, 4 and the roof.

Hi
We'd love to do the full tour but aren't there on the Saturday when the English language one is done (and we don't speak French - certainty not architect-level anyway!).
Is it worth going on the French Language tour even though we wont understand it (e.g just to see the show flat)? Or will we see almost as much if we just wander around unaccompanied?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Skrevet 29. august 2016
Sorry can not help you with this. I was underwhelmed with the buildings.

To look around without a guide do you have to pay?
Skrevet 3. juni 2016
No, I don't think that you have to pay. I didn't test this myself, because I waited for the guide. There are security men in the lobby but I'm pretty sure that the roof, and the communal shopping floor (most of the shops are now gone, but the concept remains), are public spaces. You'll easily get to see a "street view" of a floor hallway too. But in my opinion the 10 euro fee for a 2 hour tour was well worth it, because you get taken into a show-flat, and the guide is very informative.
