Passau is a delightful city on the Danube. We went there to begin a river cruise, but wandered around the town stopping in churches and walking through parks and along the River. (We recommend walking along the Inn River, which is on the other side of town from the Danube where all the cruise ships dock.) Most shops were closed because we were there on Sunday, but the town is beautiful!

Ein Tag in Passau zum schauen und erkunden reicht! Die Stadt punktet mit vielen kleinen Gassen und Cafés. Ansonsten auch viele Schiffstouristen. Sehr sehenswert!

Belle découverte, ville à faire à pieds. Balades de chaque côtés des rives, du château vers le Danube ( ville) puis monter vers l’ermitage à pieds par les marches. Avec vue impressionnante sur le fameux mélange difficile des eaux.

Ville aux trois fleuves, ça claque non! Une très belle ville avec des bâtiments peints très très bien restaurés ou très propres. On a envie de flâner... Belle rue commerçante et plusieurs endroits où prendre un verre en terrasse

Passau is a beautiful old city lying on the stuary of the Danube with the rivers Inn and Ilz, dominated by the Verte Oberhaus - part of the former fortress of the Prince-Bishops on the mountain crest btween the rivers Danube and Ilz -. The sauntering along its narrow and pretty lanes and splendid small squares is very pleasant and relaxing activity. It's an excellent way to admire the architectural jewels which are plentiful in the city concerned, the most emblematic ones being the cathedral and the Town Hall. The former is a breathtaking baroque church with some remnants in gothic style conceived by the Italian architect Carlo Lurago p leasure o and partly decorated by Carpoforo Tencalla. The latter is a wonderfully designed town hall consising of several buildings, whose origin dates back to the thirteenth century. Its tower is really impressive and visible from many points in the city. Some other churches worth visiting in the Passau Old Town are the Jesuits church, St. Michael and St. Paul parish church.
Apart from the already mentioned buildings, walking in Passau Old Town makes it possible to admire other beautiful old buildings in a unique atmosphere) as well as enter workshops an galleries. In the Domplatz), which is a large square before the cathedral, one can contemplate the façade of the Lamberg-Palais, which is an imposing edifice. Not far from there the medieval Old Residence and the baroque New Residence have been the palaces of the Prince-Bishops of Passau.
All the aforesaid details may give an idea about the extreme pleasure felt when strolling in the streets of the Passau Old Town. It's no doubt a priceless experience making one wish to remain yet several days in that marvellous city.

La grande particolarità di questa Città di circa sessantamila abitanti è quella dei tre fiumi che l’attraversa è che provengono da diverse direzioni : il Danubio da Ovest ( acque bianche ) , l’Inn da Sud ( acque azzurre ) ed il Llz da Nord ( acque nere ) !
La sua Toponomastica poi è anch’essa particolare e stradine - slarghi - archi - piazze si rincorrono un po’ dappertutto .
…. e poi tantissimi Giovani Universitari che affollano festanti ogni pertugio , dai Pub alle Osterie , dalle Gelaterie ai Negozietti caratteristici .
Insomma : una bella realtà al confine con l’Austria !!
La sua Toponomastica poi è anch’essa particolare e stradine - slarghi - archi - piazze si rincorrono un po’ dappertutto .

Its all in the title. Passau is beautiful. Only downside is that the visit was expensive. The Irish bar was by far the standout.
In general the restaurants were a rip off. Whose heard of an Italian restaurant without olives? Avoid twenty tre on the other side of the river, and just about anywhere which primarily caters for the large groups on the long river cruisers.

Amazingly beautiful but very unkept. We stayed on the south bank of the Inn and there is a hugely missed opportunity to run a quality path on or along the disused railway. The town itself was quite nice but a bit shabby. Definitely not memorable. The steps up to the Oberhausen were overgrown and poorly maintained as was the Oberhausen itself. Great views though. I love rivers so the Danube and the Inn were magnificent. Please share with the local council. It’s really not with visiting unless they focus on the opportunity they are missing. It could be world class

Waren im Oktober 2022 für einen Tagesausflug dort. War vom Bahnhof aus sehr gut erreichbar. Auch den Kindern hat es Spaß gemacht durch die Altstadt zu gehen. Sie liegt so schön zwischen den Flüssen. Außerdem gibt es gleich unterhalb einen tollen, großen Spielplatz. Am besten einfach flanieren und treiben lassen!

Passau is a river port city at the confluence of the Blue Danube, Green Inn and Black Llz rivers. We stopped here on Dec. 13, 2022 as part of a Christmas Market river cruise. Passau has a history of major flooding the most recent and largest was in 2013 when the water level in Hollgasse Artists Alley reached 12.89 meters (42.29 feet).
