Quaint little city square featuring an antique fountain, an UBahn station, a memorial to the Jewish textile merchants inhabiting the area before WW2, and a dancing Berolina figure, female symbol of the city. The square is named after a prison, Hausvogtei, which used to stand here. There are also a few decent eateries around the square, like Ma'loa and Goodtime. Nice place with a history.

Hausvogteiplatz is a wonderful square to visit ,I particularly love visiting the square as I am a big fan of craft beers and Braufactum Berlin Am Hausvogteiplatz is one of my must go bars, theres some interesting architecture here ,Haus Zur Berolina dating from 1895 is one of Berlins best preserved town houses in Berlin ,theres also a pretty little park complete with fountain and a good mix of architectural styles.
Theres some good history attached to Hausvogteiplatz, once the home of Berlin's clothing industry and home to the second Ubahn line in Berlin connecting Potsdamer Platz to Spittelmarkt ,opened 1st October1908 ,during WW2 this Ubahn station took a direct hit in February 1945 and was completely destroyed, reopened in 1950 .
The U2 Ubahn line to Hausvogteiplatz drops you off in the square and is well worth checking out if your in the area.

Located on the U2 Ubahn line ,Hausvogteiplatz is a pleasant little square in the Mitte district.
Built on the site of the city bastion which formed part of the cities historic fortification.
In the 19th century this was the centre of the cities clothing industry.
The Ubahn station opened on 1st October 1908 and was Berlin's second Uban line running from Potsdamer Platz to Spittelmarkt.
During an air raid February 1945 a direct hit devastated the Ubahn station which never reopened untill 1950.
Today this area looks superb,a mix of architecture, the square itself is rather none descript but it has a pretty fountain ( Historischer Brunnen Auf Dem Hausvogteiplatz) which is a nice place to chill and a great craft beer bar and restaurant called Meisterstuck which is well worth checking out.
Easy to locate by jumping the Ubahn down to stop Hausvogteiplatz ( U2 ) .
A nice square and area and well worth a visit.

Dreieckiger, eher kleiner Platz in Berlin Mitte.

Visiting Berlin isn't easy, emotionally. I respect the Germans for memorializing the victims of the Nazis, but it does make for a somber tone while visiting. When getting out of the subway station here, I did not at first realize that the names of shops and the number of meters to them that you say facing you on the steps going up are actually names of shops that used to belong to Jews in the neighborhood, before the Nazis forbid Jews to own shops. Hausvogteiplatz was a flourishing business and fashion area with a lot of Jewish-owned shops and garment manufacturing. The steps are part of a memorial. Near the exit from the subway, there are three tall narrow mirror-like structures, set in a triangle, giving a sense of dressing rooms in fashion stores. There are three plaques inside them on the sidewalk that briefly explain the history. It states on a Berlin website:: "Approximately 4,000 Jews from the Berlin textile products were deported and murdered in extermination camps." It is just a shame that, apparently, there was some graffiti with an attempt to clean it off..

Hausvogteiplatz is a very interesting area in the Mitte district of Berlin.
We jumped the U2 Ubahn down to here to visit a great craft beer bar and restaurant called Das Meisterstuck which is one fantastic bar and well worth checking out.
The architecture around here is fabulous with a good mix of the old and the new.
Leaving the Ubahn station you are immediately struck by the fabulous buildings and a great little fountain area with bench seating and shady trees ( Historischer Brunnen Auf Dem Hausvogteiplatz) which is lovely.
We visited Das Meisterstuck were we enjoyed a couple of great craft beer's and we also visited a couple of local bars.
This area is easy to locate by jumping the Ubahn U2 to stop Hausvogteiplatz.
A great area and well worth checking out.
