We stayed in La Vina for two weeks in September 2024, a great location with many restaurants and bars, some of which are exceptional. Very close to Playa de Caleta and all the other historic sights of Cadiz. It has a buzz about it and loved staying there.

This neighborhood is central part of Cadiz's "old town" and has narrow streets, balconied residences and numerous green parks which are treed and usually have some type of monument or fountain at their center. We toured most of this area on our walking tour prior to attending a flamenco presentation with tapas and wine at one of the many local bars.

La Vina is a part of the old city, where people live, walk, meet in cozy cafes and restaurants, and communicate. The district has numerous and very pleasant shops and boutiques, old buildings, fountains, sculptures. Nice shops with local color, things, souvenirs for every taste. We walked along the narrow streets back and forth and each time we discovered something new, whether it was a shop we missed the first time, or a courtyard with a picturesque fountain.
July, the month in which we visited Cadiz, was very hot and not the best for visiting Spain, but the narrow streets and houses standing close together created a saving shade. It was also interesting to observe the locals sitting on their balconies and watching the tourists.

Popular village between the two fortified castles of Cadiz, whose characteristic is that it is reticular and therefore, depending on your wishes, you can get lost or keep a map in hand. There are numerous commercial activities. For the lunch break I think it's worth stopping here.

This traditional Cadiz neighborhood is the one that surrounds La Caleta beach in the historic center of the city. It owes its name to the fact that vineyards were once planted on its land, until it was necessary to expand the housing area to absorb the increase in the city's population in the 18th century due to the rise of trade with America. This neighborhood was populated by fishermen who fished in the area.
Currently it is a neighborhood dotted with places where you can have a drink and eat traditional products. It has a pleasant network of streets through which you can stroll quietly. During carnival it gains a lot of animation with performances by carnival groups through its streets. It is an essential walking area if you visit Cádiz, making stops at one of its bars to enjoy the atmosphere of the neighborhood. And the architecture of its streets is also pleasant.

Rather similar to many other Spanish cities. Note the architecture of the buildings on each side of the narrow streets with many balcony windows. Beware the area id a tourist trap when you look for somewhere to eat.

One of the most charming neighborhoods in the old city. Not far from the cathedral, lots of narrow streets with well-maintained apartment buildings plus lots of places to eat, lots of coffee. Good for a stroll.

Traditional neighborhood made up of streets and alleys where it's nice to wander around without a map in hand and fully enjoy all the nuances it offers you!

It is a basically residential neighborhood with one street in particular that draws attention for its palm trees and seafood restaurants.

The central street of the district has a few nice bars and is lined with palm trees, making it particularly picturesque. A popular photo subject.

Hi, taking a cruise with Royal Caribbean and want to know how to get to Barrio La Vina from port.
Skrevet 23. januar 2019
In our opinion, Cadiz is very walkable and quite small in scale. Your info desk/concierge on board should have a local map for you to venture forth to the Barrio on your own. We went there on a Voyages to Antiquity cruise and only had a half day in Cadiz.
Keeping in mind your sailing time (and arrival time in port), decide if you'll take a panoramic bus ride with Royal Caribbean or if you will venture forth on your own. I'm guessing you won't have time to do both.
Cruise ships come in to port near the large plaza (near the Burger King) and it is easy to walk through that plaza and keep walking to the center of Cadiz which is pretty much where the Barrio La Vina is.
Although it is very easy to find your way around in Cadiz, none of these neighborhoods are all that well marked or defined. Better to choose an attraction you want to see there in the Barrio and then focus on that location; you'll have an easier time locating the Barrio that way.
