My husband absolutely wanted to see guitars built by various craftsmen through the ages and he was not disappointed. Admission for seniors 65+ is 4.5 Euros. Plus, they give you a free audio guide. There were three temporary and interesting exhibits in addition to the permanent collection. We arrived at 16h00 on a Thursday and were basically the only people visiting at that time but we were told that it was busy that morning with a school group. Thursday is also the only day of the week that this museum is open until 21h00.

This place is not in any tourist locations but is within a music school. The admission price is very small - and even free from 6 to 9 on their late night on Thursday.
The museum is well organized and structured - with an amazing amount of displays .... everything from modern instruments to very old relics. You can wander around at your own pace - stay as long as you want.
We were lucky enough to sit in on a practice session with a pianist and localist being coached by a professor.

A terrific springboard for music making, across hundreds of instruments, it’s a superb collection.
From around the world musical sounds makers are displayed in a grand setting. Strings, keyboards, percussion and brass are all represented.
Also here are musical reproduction items including an Orpheus Player plus an Ampex Reel-to-Reel tape recorder.

I give this a solid 5 stars for the collection. The museum contains extraordinary instruments from around the world and through the ages. As a brass player, I was fascinated by the evolution of the various instruments – the early coronet which was like a flute with a mouthpiece, through development of rotary and plunger valves. 12th century trombones. The emergence of the saxophone which was originally a double reed instrument like an oboe. And so on. Much of interest for other types of instruments as well – keyboards, percussion, a harpsichord likely played by Bach, the violin family, guitars (an amazing collection of Spanish Guitars), and many bizarre instruments that never made it to modern times.
I give this museum 3 to 4 stars for structure, organization and teaching content. The audioguide runs on your phone, and I had some difficulty getting connected to their Wifi since I was an international number, but I was able to run it on my own roaming data. There aren’t many audio segments anyhow, and they’re more trivia than serious education. And the organization of the museum is confusing at times – it would have been much better (in my opinion) to organize chronologically, showing the parallel development around the world of instruments, and the development of various phonic/polyphonic musical approaches, styles and physical mechanisms that eventually evolved into modern “Western Music” – while also putting more emphasis on non-Western as well. It’s all there on display but could have been better communicated.
The museum is a little out of the way from the rest of mainstream Barcelona sights, but well worth the effort. A little creativity (walking to the museum) took us through the lovely Cuitadella Parc and past the Arc de Triomf on the way up, and around the La Sagrada Familia and down L’Eixample neighborhood on the way back.

Es la tercera localización de este museo. Actualmente en el complejo que incluye el auditorio, con sus diversas salas, la escuela superior de música y hasta una cafetería en la planta baja.
Bien organizado, diversas salas, tiene una de las mejores colecciones de guitarras del mundo.
Muchos instrumentos- Tiene , a mi parecer dos atracciones notables:
1.- La posibilidad de dirigir una obra musical, calificándote al final, y la de tocar diversos instrumentos.
En ese sentido es un museo "democrático: todo lo que no está prihibido, está permitido, por ejemplo, tocar en un piano gran cola steinway & SONS

Lo había visitado en su anterior sede en el Palacio del Barón de Quadras. En la actual sede en el edificio del Auditori, se puede apreciar la extensa colección de instrumentos perfectamente expuesta a la que en nuestra visita se le sumaba la de la exposición temporal de instrumentos africanos cedidos por la Fundación Fontana.
Una visita interesante y entretenida con la oportunidad de "dirigir" una orquesta al final del itinerario.

Un museo interesante y entretenido.
Una gran variedad de instrumentos. Quizás me hubiera gustado encontrar más instrumentos étnicos, no sólo clásicos.
También estaría bien alguna información más sin necesidad de tener un guía.

All'interno del grande Auditorium questa Mostra offre diverse sale colme di strumenti di ogni tipo, di ogni epoca e proveniente da paesi di tutto il globo. L'ambiente silenzioso e ovattato e la poca affluenza
rendono questo Museo ancor piu affascinante ed interessante per gli amanti della musica o a chi la pratica, forse meno per gli altri. 6 euro l'entrata, audioguide comprese.
A me è piaciuto moltissimo.
