Very nice garden, free of charge. We discover it coming down from the top of Montjuic and the fortress. The garden was very quiet, full of cactus and palm trees. Pity it was not the season to see cactus in flower.

Very nice cactus garden to do, with variety panels, very well maintained, be careful when going there, it's seriously climbing. I advise you to continue towards the top of Mont Juic a short walk then of less than 10 minutes to the next bus stop of line 150 which takes you up towards the Miró foundation and the Olympic stadium, the stop is behind the hotel.

Access to the gardens is free of charge.
Even in January it was worth to pass by in order to check the different cactus in this garden.
There is also huge collection of cacti (about 800 different types) originating in many different continents and countries.
Notable specimens found in these gardens include: aloe (Aloe ferox) from South Africa; Hudson pears Cylindropuntia rosea from Mexico; Xanthorrhoea from Australia; Euphorbia resinifera from Morocco; large-sized Cereus jamacaru from Brazil.
The gardens offer an extensive collection of cacti from the Echinopsis genus, including Echinopsis santiaguensis, which are native to South America (Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay).
The park owes its name to the renowned Mallorcan poet Miquel Costa i Llobera.

This place was absolutely mesmerizing. We had an amazing time. Filled to the brim with beauty. We spotted very cute birds as well. Had a delicious cocktail at Martinez after. I highly recommend.

The Gardens are very nicely maintained. They are a world apart from centro Barcelona though it is not a long taxi ride.
Comprised largely of Cactus, the Gardens have a back drop of mountains on one side and a seaview on the other.
There are a couple of restaurants right in the Gardens as well as a restaurant and bar in the adjoining Miramar Hotel. After walking for a couple of hours, we had a drink and bite to eat at the lovely hotel.
The plantings, the vistas, the presence of the hotel and even the birds we saw in the Gardens all made for a very satisfying afternoon. We needed some peace and quietude after a couple of days in busy Barcelona and we found the perfect place.
We would have paid to walk these gardens, but there was no charge.

Going to botanical gardens during various trips is something we definitely do a lot. So we also ended up at the one in Barcelona. And I'd say it is definitely worth doing that.
There are 3 different routes that lead you through the garden, I'd recommend doing all 3 of them starting with the biggest one and taking a detour through one of the side ways every now and then. This way you nicely cover the entire area properly and get to see all they have. May also was a good time to come here since a lot of plants are blossoming right now too.
Additionally there were 2 exhibitions in the building at the highest point of the garden area. One was about bees and quite interesting. There everything was also labeled in English whereas in the outside area you only find signs in local language.

I have visited a few times as this is one of my favourite parks in Barcelona. It is very quiet and relaxing with hundreds of different types of cacti. It is very well maintained and the perfect spot for a stroll to escape the business of the city.
Take the metro to Paral-lel and walk the rest of the way up. From there you can easily get to the rest of Montjuic.

Wil It Be open between the 20th and the 24th of november?
Skrevet 16. november 2019
Say it isn't so. We are so wanting to visit the Gardens of Mossèn Costa i Llobera, but I'm thinking they are closed for renovation. Is that correct? We plan to visit Barcelona the last week of September and the first week of October 2019. Thank you.

I would like to ask, how much cost the entry to the Mossen Costa i Llobera Gardens or if is it free?
Thank you in advance :)
