This is a great place to escape the winter as the warmer weather is really appealing. Just a short flight from the UK and a short walk from the airport and you’re in an exclusive area of restaurants and bars. The accommodation we stayed in its self catering, with plenty of space, a beautiful balcony overlooking the pool and marina Allowing you to explore and relax in the evening. There is a heated pool and Jacuzzi is for the winter and a beautiful result for the summer.
There is so much to do in such a small place we go on a boat trip to see the dolphins, or up to see the monkeys through the cable car or to see Saint Michaels caves and a beautiful sweeping views. Have some seafood on the beach. There is a Kings Bastian with bowling alley, really reasonably priced drinks and a cinema and climbing wall. Take a lovely stroll through the botanical Gardens . Explore the marinas and beautiful restaurants still able to sit outside during the winter months or pop over to Spain for some chopping and Tapas

A lovely place ruinned by extremely loud music until 2 am

This hotel is nice enough with a lovely pool / spa area on the top floor . However , we booked through sweet stay ( even through booking.com) and from the beginning we had non stop problems . The person that showed us to our apartment was rude and threatened to ‘ cancel our room booking ‘ just because we questioned the extra money they were asking for . They will ask each occupant for £15 each for ‘ use of the amenities’ . The amenities were listed as included in the original booking and paid for . It turns out this card you have to pay for is not just for the pool it is the only way you can access the main door to even get to the apartment you have already paid for ?!
Payment is by cash only and no receipt provided so there is clearly a little money making scheme going on here between the hotel and Eliseo Gonzalez. We were taken to the apartment and he would not leave until we had also provided further card details to cover any ‘ damage waiver’. We were told even a mark on a towel will cost us £15. He was rude , passive aggressive and we both felt unsafe with this individual. Upon inspection of the apartment this had not been cleaned . There were hairs on the bed sheets , smear marks on the patio and balcony glass , dust on the floor , dirty utensils in the drawer . We took photographic evidence of this . We also got locked out on the balcony 16 floors up as the door lever malfunctioned. Once again when Eliseo came to unlock it he once again mentioned that we were ‘ lucky we were not charged for this ‘ . How about he never showed us how the door worked ?!
Filthy apartment - owner should be aware that this is not being cleaned or unkept. Hairs in the beds , dust on floor , dirty smeared windows , foot prints on wall , dirty utensils .

Plenty of choice of fantastic restaurants and a lovely view of the marina. Restaurants aren’t cheapest but no where in Gibraltar is!

It's very lively, vibrant, nice lighting in the evening. There are plenty of bars, restraunts, some good. Some quite the opposite. Definitely worth a visit

Away from the hustle and bustle of the main square, and main streets, found this area just before lunch time. Plenty of quiet bars, and cafes to sit and watch the world go by. Some nice small shops and restaurants located here, as well as the Sunborn hotel, which resembles a ship.

This is a lovely busy place with lots of restaurants. Great for a nice drink or meal whilst watching the world go by. It's very clean and tidy and all the staff we encountered were very friendly. Boats leave from here for Dolphin watching. and the Sunborn hotel is a great sight to see. This was our 'Happy place' on our 6 night honeymoon

Hello, the pool area is available for residents or guests living in Royal Ocean Plaza, Grand Ocean Plaza and Majestic Ocean Plaza, it is indeed open all year round. Hope you enjoy your stay.

It will be approximately 20 minutes to walk to Ocean Village from the Cruise ship, possibly more if you a slow walker

I have booked an apartment through Holiday lettings number 503 Royal Ocean Plaza anybody already stayed? best advice? Do we use taxi from airport any idea of best place for a meal - do we need to book as we arrive late evening on a Saturday?

I'm probably a little late with my response here. However Royal Ocean Plaza is right in the centre of Ocean Village and a very nice location. It could be easily walked in 15-20 mins but is readily served by the local Buses which are regular, clean, inexpensive and a delight to use. There can be a queue for Taxi at the air port, but if there is take a coffee break in the lounge over looking the northern face of the rock. see oceanvillage.gi for a map.
