Emblematic building built between the 17th and 18th centuries by architects Juan Gómez de Mora and Teodoro Ardemans, in typical Baroque style of Madrid. It has a square plan with an inner courtyard. Its architectural sobriety stands out, with classic elements such as columns and pediments. On its façade, the great tower with clock and a shield of the city of Madrid stands out. Although it was conceived as the headquarters of the Madrid Council, the City Hall is currently located in the Palace of Cibeles, and the Villa House is only used for official events, ceremonies and tourist visits.

Casa de la Villa served as city hall from the 17th to the 21st century.
It lis located at the Plaza de la Villa, near the Calle Mayor.
Despite being a city hall, the building was also intended to be used as municipal prison and works were completed in 1692.
As the municipal premises moved around 2011, the Casa de la Villa was left with little use and currently serves as offices and official receptions.
It is a historic-artistic monument and a quite beautiful building.

The three strong points of this building (which justify the visit) are: a) the façade, b) the patio with the incredible stained glass that covers it and c) the plenary hall. Be sure to see the stained glass window in the patio, which is impressive (in my opinion) and the plenary hall, which is impressive. It is a shame that this last element is no longer used and you can only visit it by accessing the old spectator stand. It must be worth seeing where the councilors were placed in the past.
It is a shame that the chapel is closed for conservation reasons.
The building is not normally open to the public so you must visit it for special openings

Casa De La Villa is one of the standout buildings on Plaza De La Villa ,a famously beautiful square that's always a joy to visit.
Casa De La Villa was constructed between 1645-1696 with the impressive columns added in 1789,it served as the Town Hall for centuries, its most distinctive feature of the granite built structure is the evocative spire ,such a photogenic building, its most definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area and easy to locate on Plaza De La Villa.

It is the oldest town hall in Madrid. Built in the 17th century and until recently used as a town hall. Now it is in use by one of the municipal services. Nice to see.

The Casa de la Villa was built in the 17th century and served as city hall from that time to the 21st century.
Besides its role as city hall, the building was also intended to be used as municipal prison.
Following the refurbishment of the Palacio de Comunicaciones and the move of the municipal premises to the former in 2011, the Casa de la Villa currently houses some municipal offices and is used for official receptions.

This is the impressive main building in the Plaza de la Villa and was the city hall for around 300 years until the early twentieth century. Well worth a look and an explore as are many of the side streets and small squares in this older part of the city-the Asturias.

Gorgeous, beautiful and historic building. The Casa de la Villa is the former city hall of Madrid, the largest and most impressive of the historic buildings on Plaza de la Villa. Despite the different opinions, it is considered that its construction began around 1645, based on a project by the architect Juan Gomez de Mora, and that it was completed in 1693. It has a special charm, both the building itself and the Plaza de la Villa. It is worth visiting, as is the beautiful Plaza de la Villa and the picturesque and charming streets and squares in its surroundings, the heart and soul of the oldest Madrid.

Beautiful building, one of the oldest preserved in Madrid. It was a municipal building and a prison. It is now located in a very nice small square, near the royal palace.

Can you visit inside Madrid's Casa de la Villa on days other than Monday? If so, what are the visiting hours?
