Naples is crazy crazy a wild city. Top list cities: you HATE or YOU LOVE the city. Have very specific vibe of mess dirty city. Graffiti and old buildings. Average Italian people. Lots of foreigns from Africa and India and Pakistan very crazy dirty. Chaos with specific vibe but first day you you are in shock and after you love that. This city is for travels and good lovers not much for vacationing people.

Stay away from Naples all together. The city is dirty, smells, falling apart. FULL OF PICKPOCKET and I say it again FULL OF PICKPOCKET. not safe at all

Before I visited Naples (but after I had already booked and paid for the trip) I read a lot of negative reviews online and I was frankly anxious to visit. What I now personally think is that you need to spend more than a day or two in Naples/Napoli to fully appreciate it. The vast majority of negative reviews of Naples seem to come from people who have visited for the day whilst on holiday in Sorrento for example. When I first arrived, I honestly found the place so overwhelming and outright terrifying that I also would have had a hugely negative impression had I not stayed more than a couple of days.
In the end, I fell in love with the place and will always remember it fondly. I’m personally a huge fan of street art so enjoyed walking around discovering that most of all. Of course Pompeii and Herculaneum were also incredible and unforgettable experiences, as were the catacombs of San Gennaro and the underground tour. It’s a wild city and the locals seem to be extremely free spirited and rebellious which I quite admire.
Crossing roads is an issue because the locals do not care for pedestrians whatsoever so it takes some getting used to but you really do just have to cross and hope you don’t die because the cars won’t stop! The endless scooters down narrow pedestrian streets are also just insane and at first, I was so irritated and overwhelmed by them but in the end, I just laughed it off. I don’t recommend hiring a car unless you have experience driving here because every single car I saw was coated in scratches and dents, they must just crash pretty much daily and shrug it off!
I can understand why the city wouldn’t be for everyone, I don’t think people with a nervous disposition would survive long here at all. It is a bit ‘grimy’ if you like and the area around the main train station is pretty insane- lots of homeless people, human faeces and urine everywhere and soldiers with tanks which is… something! But please don’t base your whole impression of the place on that particular area, it has so much more to offer. I am glad I stuck it out and gave it more of a chance. First impressions aren’t always the most important thing, sometimes a place grows on you over time and Naples definitely did for me…
All I would advise is giving it more than a couple of days and being ballsy crossing roads. It’s a wonderful and vibrant cultural city and I’m a huge fan.

Naples is a wonderful city full of wonderful people. I've travelled here many times, both with my daughters and alone. I will continue to return. If you're expecting an Italian Disneyland then you're not going to find it but if you go with an open heart and mind you will fall in love with Naples. It can be a little raw and a little chaotic but that's part of its charm. Embrace it and it will embrace you back.

Naples is by far the dirtiest city I have ever visited in my life. It resembles a third-world country due to its complete lack of infrastructure for waste management.
As soon as you exit the train station, you notice an alarming amount of trash in the streets. It doesn't feel like a G7 country.
I found Rome dirty and poorly maintained, but it was nothing compared to Naples.
I strongly advise against visiting this city, which is exceptionally filthy and clearly unsafe.

Love Naples, Stayed in an Airbnb near the centre and it's the best people watching city in the world! The spiritual heartland of the Vespa.

After having travelled through most of Italy for over three weeks and thoroughly loving it, we stayed at Naples for four nights, which was ten nights too long (or so it seemed). The place is filthy with rubbish and graffiti everywhere. The majority of people are very rude and will go out of their way to be obnoxious whenever they get the opportunity to do so. I simply think they do not know anything different from living in what is a wasteland. That said, we did enjoy a fantastic pizza making class at a restaurant that was actually clean. We were going to stay at Sorrento or Ravello, but thought that Naples would be more convenient. What a mistake. !!!!

This city is not for tourists,its chaotic 24/7,drivers do what they want,scooters everywhere,thousands of them.Be careful.
Keep plenty of change for buses,more often than not the drivers will say "no change",they find it for Italians though.
Watch Vesuvius tour,there is a portaloo which is closed and the lock.is rusty but there are cafes at the beginning,the middle and the top but they absolutely will not let you use one unless you buy something they are the filthiest toilets I have seen outside of North Africa.
These people prepare your food so take care.
You may, as we have done been approached by drivers in older cars with no signs on them claiming to be taxis they aren't they are scammers who charge what they want and if you are injured your travel.insurance will most likely not cover you.
Finally check.what bed and breakfast actually means,we have paid good money for this place,its clean enough but when we got here we were told that breakfast was either a piece of toast,a croissant or a small sweet cake and a cup of coffee.

Don’t go to Naples. It is by far the worst place I have ever visited. A city teaming with rubbish, vehicle fumes and cigarette smoke. It is honestly a total dump. The locals and shop workers all clearly hate tourists, made clear by the graffiti everywhere saying, “tourists go home”, now whether that is an insult or genuine advice to not waste your time and money on this city i’m not sure. Shops and people in Naples should count themselves lucky that tourists go and spend money there.
I’ve never been in a place that makes you feel so unwelcome, being given dirty looks and charged over the odds for everything. People talk about Naples being the home of coffee, I’m yet to have a good one, overpriced cups of hot milk. Nothing compared to that of Rome.
The photos online are very much a case of expectation vs reality. Nobody shows the overflowing bins and rough sleepers. There is barely anything to actually go and see, every street is the same… tourist trap, souvenir shop, tourist trap and so on. It’s so bad that we decided to get Burger King for our evening meal…… and not even attempt to go and deal with another rude establishment who clearly don’t want you there.
All of the lovely people, amazing food and sights around Italy are far more worth your time and money than Naples.
I implore you. Avoid this place at all costs.

If I could give Naples airport a minus 10 I would ! Chaotic from entering the airport! Staff rude and unfriendly. No organisation at gates, aircraft waiting for ground staff to organise buses to transport the passengers to the aircraft which has taken over 2 hours, sitting on plane now fully expecting massive delays due to missing the flight time slot at no fault of the airline. If you can avoid flying in and out of Naples ! Horrendous experience!

Hi,
I have a question.
I plan to visit the museum on 27th March. However, I will have it as one of the 2 free of charge attractions when having the Roma pass.
That is why I should not make the reservation via the official website form because it needs payment to be done.
However, when I try to contact them by phone, the automatic menu gives me an option for 5 attraction to book but not this one. I could also not find any e-mail to write.
Could you please assist?
