Not worth visiting on its own merit alone (we went to investigate ferries). There are a couple of bars/restaurants and ticket booths for the ferries - you can’t walk anywhere at sea level.

Marina Piccolo is the newer, larger port. Marina Grande is the older and smaller port. Go figure.
This is where we caught the ferry to Positano and Amalfi.

Excellent place to spend an hour in the evening. View of Sorrento from here is great and so is the skyline in the sea. Wasn't very busy when we visited. Taking the lift to reach here is a great option.

We walked down the many steps from Piazza Tasso to this marina 1 evening on our holiday to Sorrento as we thought it would be interesting to see. We were disappointed & I wouldn't recommend visiting Marina Piccola unless you're catching a ferry from here to Capri or Positano etc. There's a small marina of boats, a few restaurants & some sunbathing jetties that you have to pay a lot of money for which were closed because it was evening, you walk behind rows of changing huts that isn't a nice view & you can't see the sunset from here. We much preferred Marina Grande as there's a beautiful view of picturesque fish restaurants & the gorgeous sunset from there. We went back up to Sorrento town centre by the lift which was about €1.20 each, well worth not climbing up the steps, you come out at the Villa Comunale viewpoint. Overall there's not much to recommend Marina Piccola, go to Marina Grande instead.

Ce n’est pas spécialement à faire sauf si vous allez à la « plage » sur les pontons aménagés ou si vous avez un bateau à prendre. Surtout que la descente à pieds est vertigineuse et que l’ascenceur est payant. Nous y avons pris un bateau high speed pour le retour sur Naples. Une traversée rapide mais pleine de roulis ce jour-là.

Από εδώ ξεκινούν όλα τα φέρι! Πάρτε τα σκαλιά από τον κεντρικό δρόμο για να κατεβείτε και σε 5' φτάσατε. Και στην επιστροφή έχει διάφορους τρόπους για να ανεβείτε στην πόλη!

This marina is great for catching a ferry/boat, with many lines serving quite a few destinations including Capri. Not sure it's worth a side-trip down down down the bluff otherwise.
If you are catching a ferry, some lines require you check in before boarding, others do not.
Especially for the fast boats your boat may not have the ferry line's name on it - we took a SNAV pre-booked trip to Capri and headed to the end of the pier for the SNAV labelled boat. Oops, wrong boat - go back to the start of the pier and up to the walk-on boat dock. We were *not* the last people on, but 4 more minutes and we would have missed our boat :)
This is a pretty spot, all of the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento Penninsula are dramatic! Allow some extra time for catching your ferry and all will be la dolce vita. There is a well-staffed cab stand at the marina for when you return.

Sorrento è una bella città, solare e colorata, peccato per i pochi servizi relativi alle spiagge. Ottimo snodo per Capri, Ischia e costiera amalfitana in genere. Abitanti molto cortesi.

Rudeness beyond comprehension. My experience in the whole of Sorrento has been awful. People here don’t like tourists and of anything they seem to hate us. They treat you not just badly. They make the point that you are worthless and that you can’t do anything to change things. You can’t complain to anyone because there isn’t anyone that really cares. You are corrupt in the sense that they would say no to you but if a friend arrives they will say yes to them right in your face. No shame on doing so either. This is just a little example. I was first in the queue and about to pay to get in this private beach. The lady serving me got out of her way yo start talking to someone that was behind the queue. They started talking about nothing urgent. So I said do you mind finishing with my first??? Of course her reaction wasn’t any sort of apology. Her answer was you must way if you want to get a place and she carried on talking with her friend having a queue of people between them. No shame. This is just a little example. Much more happened. They were so bad!!

We took the lift down from Villa Comunale to the beach clubs below and walked round to Marina Piccola to take a look. Frankly unless you are using one of the many ferries that leave here, or have a penchant for staring at other peoples expensive yachts, I wouldn’t bother. Yes there are some bars and restaurants, but they are nothing special and you are at the wrong end of Sorrento for the sunsets.
If you only have time to do one Marina whilst in Porto, make sure it is Marina Grande.
