If you’re into 18th and 19th century Italian culture then maybe this will be the highlight of your tour, but for me it was just dingy paintings, dull furniture and tasteless ceramics.

An excellent private collection given to the town. The archaeological rooms were closed when I visited but very much enjoyed the mainly 19th paintings of Sorrento and Naples and wished it looked more like that now rather than the present day chaos with the traffic and tourists. Some beautiful views from the villa across the Bay of Naples. You'll spend about an hour here.

Sorrento is a vibrant town with many good restaurants, bars and shops. The local people are very nice and friendly. The town is built on a cliff so there is no beach or promenade to walk along. You can go down to the sea via steps or a lift to sectioned areas with built jetties with sun loungers and areas of sea that you pay to enter. Visit Marina Grande for a more picturesque little port. The lift does not go to this port but it is not difficult to wak down and back up with a standard level of fitness. The Sorrento museum is actually worthwhile. It is quirky and interesting. We stayed in the Conca Park Hotel which was very good. The only thing that was negative is that at peak times it can be very busy. The traffic is constant and you take your life in your hands trying to cross the road even at zebra crossing!

Incredible views of Mount Vesuvius, so romantic. Superb service and wonderful food. Strongly recommended and ask for a table outside by the edge for the best views.

Although the artwork and artefacts were beautiful we were disappointed many had either no information about them or it was all in Italian.An audio guide or translation would have been helpful.One painting even had a question mark by the artist as if museum unsure who painted it!We weren't sure about guides/museum assistants apart from a young man with white TShirt on who just seemed to follow us around,not talking to us at all.On the top floor a group of men were at the entrance standing around talking so we had to just squeeze our way through.I feel the museum could do lot more to make tourists feel welcome and know more about the museum.The gardens were also beautiful but for 15 euros each I had hoped for a lot more especially from guides.

Absolutely an amazing and beautiful place to have a wedding ceremony. Clemenzia from the Museum worked with Caterina (our ceremony organizer) did an incredible job preparing the entire venue for our intimate wedding. The area itself provided nice shade from the sun in the hot middle day of Sorrento. The area is away from the main touristic area, providing a private feel to it. The venue itself was beautiful for pictures as well.
Caterina added/recommended details we did not think of and made the entire process stress free on our big day. She also took care of all the paperwork (translated documents, submitted it to the town hall), provided local florists, taxi service and more! Went above and beyond our expections!
For anyone considering having a wedding here, we would recommend it without any doubt and this is probably the best place to have your ceremony in Sorrento!

Salve a tutti:BEH,soprattutto è consigliabile visitare il nuovo allestimento al secondo piano della struttura, ben organizzato, con tutti quei bellissimi dipinti della scuola di Posillipo e non solo,non c'è male il primo piano, l'unica cosa,una sala non era visitabile, poiché si erano fulminate le lampadine,bene anche il terzo piano dove sono esposte le porcellane da tutto il mondo, da Capodimonte a Sevres,ecc...,l'unica cosa le didascalie del terzo piano non sono sufficienti ad illustrare le ceramiche, bene anche il presepio,il prezzo, lascia a desiderare:Il biglietto costa una bellezza di 15 euro a persona!!! Sconti solo per gli iscritti FAI,7,50.il giardino è meraviglioso c'è un viottolo che conduce ad una terrazza panoramica molto bella.

Felt dingy, exhibits weren't explained in any context & signage was outdated.
Staff seemed disassociated. Sorrento has so many other gifts unless you have a rainy day - skip. The garden was lovely though.

Interessante visita anche se limitata al solo primo piano dove ho potuto ammirare le numerose e ricche opere che si incontrano nelle bellissime sale dove sono esposte pitture tra il XVI e il XVII dipinte da Andrea Vaccaro,Giuseppe Bonito,Salvator Rosa,Belisario Corenzio,Francesco De Mura e opere dei pittori fiamminghi come Pieter Paul Rubens,Abel Grimmer.E'possibile ammirare anche preziose porcellane cinesi e stupendi mobili intarsiati tipici della scuola d'intarsio di Sorrento.

We picked the Museo and it's garden for our wedding venue. Of the choices available to us (a UK couple), this one suited what we we after. The venue and room was ornate and traditional, with the Museo staff being great. Our wedding planner (Bella Sposa) did an ideal job of picking the catering and live music, and suggesting photographers. Sorrento Live Music were brilliant, they kept everybody entertained and played very well. The team from Catering Emozionale produced some fantastic food. The Bros photography kept us amused and were not overbearing. Taking the small path away from the Museo and getting access to the belvedere and view point at the Hotel Ambasciatori was a stunning photo opportunity. Beauty Line Luisa did a great job for hair and make-up.

Thinking of booking one of the Three Tenors evenings. Is it worth it? The website I am using doesn't tell me what seats I am getting only that they are "Central" seats (1 category below "Exclusive"). At EUR 50 per ticket, I want to be sure I have a decent seats.
