KlidnÄ› námÄ›stà poblÞ Å™eky. Architektura je velice pÅ™Ãjemná a hezká. Na námÄ›stà se nacházà také spoustu restauracà a barů.

Nice small square at the end of the borgo stretto street that leads to the bridge. It has a statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi who was a general who helped to unify Italy. There are a couple of bars, a gelateria and a bank with an ATM.

Plac Garibaldiego znajduje się w centrum miasta, tuz przy moście Mezzo nad rzeką Arno. W centralnej jego części stoi pomnik przywódcy wzniesiony przez mieszkańców Pizy według projektu Ettore Ferrariego w dziesiątą rocznicę śmierci wodza w 1892 roku. To ruchliwy plac, miejsce spotkań. Tu zaczyna się deptak Borgo Stretto.

It is quite popular and is a reference point for the Pisans themselves and for visitors and tourists.
The square is located at the northern end of the Ponte di Mezzo and is bordered on the remaining three sides by historic buildings, which have characterized the cultural and social life of the city since the late modern age.
In the background, together with the Borgo Stretto, stands the building that housed the Casino dei Nobili from the mid-eighteenth century, while on both sides there are the buildings that were once among the oldest hotels in Pisa. Next to them is the building with the arch under which the "Madonna dei Vetturini" was placed, at the beginning of the arcades of Borgo Stretto. The wooden tabernacle with the Madonna and Child is attributed to Nino Pisano and dates back to the period 1360-1370.
It was so called because it was located at the beginning of Borgo Stretto, as a religious protection for the numerous carriage drivers, who were stationed in the square waiting for their customers, and who worshipped the tabernacle.
What we see today is a copy, because the original, badly damaged, was restored and placed in the museum of San Matteo.
Not exactly in the center of the square but a little bit westward, is the life-size bronze statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi made in 1892 by the Roman sculptor Ettore Ferrari and cast by the Crescenzi foundry in Rome.
The pedestal shows episodes from the life of Garibaldi, including the fall of Rome and his wound at Aspromonte, which was cured in Pisa.
Originally the square, which was the most central and famous because it was, for its position and size, the center of activity and hospitality in the city, was known simply as Piazza di Ponte di Mezzo until the end of the 19th century, when it was named 'Piazza Garibaldi'.

...arrivando dal Ponte di Mezzo a Pisa e prima di entrare nel Borgo Stretto ci si trova davanti questa bella statua dedicata a Giuseppe Garibaldi...l'eroe dei due mondi...molto bella al centro della piazza a lui dedicata...ci sono bar e ristorantini...luogo di incontro e di aggregamento!!...piena di vita questa piazza!!...molto bella specialmente la sera...la statua si trova proprio vicino al punto in cui dopo essere stato ferito ad Aspromonte sbarcò a Pisa attraversando il fiume Arno!!...e ci sono anche questi momenti di vita rappresentati alla base della statua!!...da vedere!!...
