This was a very unexpected positive surprise of our visit to Amersfoort.
We were expecting to spend a couple of hours at the most visiting this Park, however, it ended up being a full day experience.
First things first, it's located a few kilometres away from the city centre and from the highways surrounding the city. There's a parking onsite for which you must buy a token before returning to your car as it'll be needed to exit the parking lot. The cost is around 10 euros.
It's advisable to buy tickets online before arrival however the lines are not that big even though it was a busy day. I cannot remember if we even saved a euro or two by booking online, just check it out and maybe buy the tickets a couple of days in advance once you know you'll be going for sure.
You can get a complimentary map as soon as you enter, the layout is basically a circle with many things within (please take a look at the map which you can find amongst the pictures I've posted).
What makes this place special is not only the variety of the fauna available but the proximity to it. One does really get close up to our neighbours on this planet we call home. Children of all ages can examine them and see how they actually area in reality and become more comfortable with their presence.
There are also playgrounds for children to enjoy, it's easy to end up spending a couple of hours just at one of the playgrounds, really easy. There's also a train and a carrousel available at an extra charge (1 token per ride, 6 tokens cost 5 euros which you can get from a machine and pay by credit card).
There's also a section of the park with real size dinos that are pretty good and impressive, it's amazing to see how big they actually were. Incidentally, there are signs with basic facts about all the animals and a QR code for more info.
You'll also find many places to get food and drinks even though you can enter with your own.
A very nice surprise was the small and peaceful Japanese garden, it was a reminder of our stay in Japan a few years ago. This is a perfect place to relax and contemplate.
I'll end this review with a suggestion: try to leave by 5pm tops, otherwise, you'll be spending longer simply trying to get out.....and if you fancy a pannenkoken, there's a place 200 yards past the park which will get full by 17:30.

This zoo does some things really well, and some things not so much.
The nature in the zoo is really nice. Tall trees and a logic layout. Kids will have a blast as they can climb around the animal enclosures, there's a good playground and at the animals there's just enough chunk size information to spark an interest and an educational aspect on the importance of preservation of nature. Admission and parking prices are fair. You can easily spend a day here.
More problematic are some of the animal enclosures. Some ate really too small for this day and age. Alterations are being made but it definitely needs more attention. At certain spots you can get right up the glass to the animals, I'm sure nice for humans but probably not so nice for the animals.
Another "issue", some things come at additional costs, like the little train and the waterbikes. With a larger group this can quickly add up, none of the things we paid extra for was worth it.
Lastly, catering is a joke. Long lines at lunch time (it happens) but they took 20 minutes to put out new sandwiches, a grand total of 4 which were immediately gone of course, so the hungry line remained. Most drinks and snack stalls around the park closed long before the park closed.
All and all, a good day, but not rushing back.

The weather was a bit disappointing, but therefore it was not really crowded, which we found an advantage.

Zoo is child-friendly, but unclear. You have 2 routes, but unfortunately we missed some animals. At least one flaw is that you have to pay extra for t train, carousel and pedal boat. Also
was very disappointing, that we were at 4.25 pm at these pedal boats and were not allowed to join the queue. It would have been nice if that was mentioned somewhere, we would have gone there earlier.

We regularly visit various animal parks and this is a new favorite! Very nicely handled, super child friendly. The animals have large enclosures and you can get very close to the animals in a number of places. Very nice wooded area. We found it highly recommended!

Very nice animal park with lots of trees and greenery. We really all got to see the animals up close. They have bears, lions and tigers, very cool.
The extra activities such as sailing by train and boat have to be paid for separately, which is less in my opinion.
And if you have a child who needs to get rid of a pacifier; they have a wall here where you can hang them. Our son really liked that and now says; my teat is with the giraffe. 😃
So highly recommended!

Nice zoo with lots of play opportunities outdoors. We were going with our two children at 2 & 6 years and we thought there was plenty to see and stay entertained by.
The park is a pearl without just, really nice built under the big trees so there is also a lot of shade for the kids, which was nice as we had 30.5 degrees during the visit.
The food here is simple, actually not very good.. they close the park at 18 and we were down at a restaurant at 16:40 to buy extra drinks as it was very hot in the day. Here we were told that all food and drinking places were closed and that we had to go out of the park to buy something to drink on the way home, even though the park does not close until 18:00. Not smart when you have small children with and this was a minus for us as the park was almost empty and everything closed around us before 5:00.

Large park but small cubicles for the animals. Train and carousel cost a euro pp, ridiculous! You already pay 28,50 entrance (adults) and 9,50 parking ticket. Park is large but therefore unclear so you miss animals

Hey, everybody. We paid for parking without even visiting the park.. so we arrived parked and went to buy a ticket.. and it costs 30 euros and parking is 9.50 extra.
As a family... we thought it was worth 160 euros for a zoo. And we decided to leave... but the boom won't let the car out for nothing. Had to pay 9.50 for nothing.

Oei, daar kan ik eigenlijk niet op antwoorden. Was voor ons ook de 1e keer. Misschien zijn er meer dieren binnen, maar je kunt ook de binnen verblijven inzien.
