We could not enter bc one of them ( after another agent had let us enter WITH my purse, assessing it as permissive size) had allowed us to enter

The Boijmans van Beuningen Depot is a special experience: like walking around in a futuristically decorated Ikea warehouse: you press the light button and you look into a hall full of beautiful work that you would like it to stand or hang somewhere in public space and So much!!
Great architecturally designed as a large vase with trees on top and a terrace as if you were a miniature person walking around in a large flowerpot.

It is not allowed to carry selfie sticks inside the museum.
If it had been written outside or the employees had warned me at the entrance, I would have liked it better, since I have always held it without hiding it. Arriving on the third floor, one of the security arrives and tells me “come out” “out you can’t stay here”. If I had been politely told to put the stick away because it was not allowed, I would have liked, instead of making me feel like a wretch who cannot continue her visit to the museum

We are dutch family. We went on family trip some while ago in 2008, payed a lot for me and family members. I have education in Dutch artistic bachelor arts. Honestly, I felt depressed afterwards. But this can just me. Nature was beautiful though. Advice. If you go there , go on sunny day, otherwise I could happen you just feel not so good before you entered the whole, just like me. Art in my humble opinion should be uplifting.

A building of stunning architecture, from the outside, it is bluffing, the reflection of the surrounding buildings on the surface. Inside, it is incredible, 6 floors to discover step by step. The entrance ticket is not given, 20 euros but another museal approach is proposed. I was fascinated by the explanations on the importance of x-rays of the tables and the examples proposed. I loved the very large masterpiece room, 250 paintings displayed on glass walls , so you can admire both sides of the exhibited works, the little less, the information about the work is on the back of the wall and it takes coming and going but the idea is fantastic , it was the first time I saw such a display and I was really won over.

The building is worth a visit from the outside alone. Inside you can expect impressive architecture, great insights into the storage of works of art and the exhibition of selected works. From the very top you have a great view over the city and can also sit in the nice cafe.

I was never an art enthusiast, so art museums have never been a must-see attraction for me. But I just have to rate the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen, popularly called "The Pot" for its eye-catching architecture. The 40 metres high building is shaped like a bowl and covered with reflective plates, effectively mirroring the skyscrapers of Rotterdam onto its exterior surface. Its simple yet striking architecture was inspired by the €3.99 aluminium-colored stainless steel IKEA bowl, the Blanka Blank, which happened to be on the table as a sugar bowl during discussions about the proposed design for the building. Zoom in closely with your phone camera and you will even be able to take a photo of your own reflection on its gleaming surface. Located in the Museumpark area next to the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, this art depot is the world's first publicly accessible art storage facility with more than 150,000 objects housed together, arranged in 14 storage compartments with 5 different climate zones. Though I did not enter its interior, purely from the architectural standpoint, I would give it a 5 star! Even without any sugar this time, the Pot has certainly added a sweetness to Rotterdam's already-impressive architectural credentials since its officiation in 2021.

The museum was closed.
But the particular shape of the building made of a reflective cup allows you to experience it with the photos.
The building was designed by MVRDV Studio and in my opinion it is one of the most original in Rotterdamn, although there are quite a few architectural gems to see.

The Depot housing the collection of Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, which is currently under renovation, is a truly unique repository of art (and I’ve been to zillions of museums). It’s well worth a visit if you’re in Rotterdam. We had doubts about coming here due to reviews that mentioned vertigo. However, the striking building has two big glass elevators—there’s no need to walk up scary stairs! In addition to the objects, there are videos, wall labels, glass windows into conservation labs, etc., that provide insight into the museum’s collection, storage, preservation, and display of artworks. Galleries on the upper floors present some of the greatest hits, including a Kusama mirrored room, and other works by world-class artists. The view from the rooftop is priceless! We're glad we bought inline tickets and didn’t miss this special place.

Deze vraag is niet eenduidig te antwoorden; ik hou er zelf na ongeveer 2 uur op omdat ik dan moe ben en teveel informatie heb vergaard. Maar een ander kan het wel 3 uur volhouden. Als je meer wilt zien kan je beter een keer terug gaan naar een ander deel van het museum.
