La chiesa di Santa Caterina pare sia del 1200. Poi come accade spesso, tanti rimaneggiamenti fino alla versione finale, quella che vediamo oggi che è databile al 1854. L’interno è caratterizzato dalla statua della Madonna nera che è del 1500.

Costruita in una bella piazza a pochi minuti dal centro pieno di Bruxelles , in prossimità dell' omonima fermata della Metro . L' attuale chiesa risale alla seconda metà dell' Ottocento a sostituire un' antico edificio sacro gotico . La sua facciata mostra un' eclettica mistura di stili diversi , dal gotico al barocco . L' interno è molto sobrio e non contiene grandi opere d' arte , a parte un bel pulpito di legno .

This is one among many churches and cathedrals in downtown Brussels. Eglise Sainte-Catherine is a larger cathedral with an imposing facade and relatively unpolished interior. It is a quiet place without many tourists.

L'église est impressionnante. La vue de l'intérieur est vraiment spectaculaire, très haute et majestueuse.

Église Sainte-Catherine de Bruxelles (St. Catherine's Church) is situated on Place Sainte Catherine in central Brussels. Historically, there was a Gothic style church constructed here in the 15th century. After flood damage, a new church was built between 1854-74. The church suffered a turbulent 20th-century of damage, neglect and seems to have barely avoided permanent closure and being converted into indoor market within the last decade.
Today, what you find is something of a French Neo-Gothic exterior and facade. There is also a free standing Baroque style tower just outside the main church building that is worth a look. The interior offers a bare nave with minimal ornamentation. There is a fine altar, carved wooden pulpit and few other nice things to see. However, by comparison to other church visits you may have done in Brussels, there is quite a bit less to see within St. Catherine's Church.
In the end, worth a look-see if you are sightseeing in this area of central Brussels. Otherwise, if you are short on time in the city, there are more impressive and interesting churches you can visit first.

La chiesa insiste sulla omonima piazza .
È maestosa nei suoi diversi stili ,tra cui spiccano il gotico ed il barocco.
Architettura ammaliante e suggestiva che ti cattura lo sguardo a lungo.

Located on and dominating Place Sainte Catherine is St Catherine Church ( Eglise Sainte Catherine ) .
Constructed between 1854-1874 on what was the old port of Brussels ,a wonderful looking church building in the style of French Gothic ,it's one of the most beautiful buildings designed by architect Joseph Poelaert ,such an eye catching and imposing church that's just a joy to visit if you're in the St Catherine District and easy to locate on Place Sainte Catherine.

It doesn't happen often anymore that great churches are found on these grounds of times we live in: the St Catherine Church in Brussels makes all the difference though. Beautiful on the outside and wonderfully on the inside, it still is being used actively. A marvel to behold.
