Wow, I honestly do not have words for how well Nhung did organising our trip. We were travelling for Christmas and she put together a special trip based on our budget and what we wanted to see. The communication was excellent from the point of enquiry, all the way through to after we had returned to England. Nhung had organised our car hire, hotels and transfers to and from the aiport and there was no hiccup with any of them. In fact the hotels were was beyond our expectations and each of them had their own uniquness and qualities. The self guided itinery and recommendations for things to see on the way was so well put together and it took all the stress out of organising the trip.
This was a trip of a lifetime and that it was. Iceland is one of the most beautiful countries we have visited and the snow at Christmas made it even more breathtaking. Would highly recommend this company and I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. Thankyou again Nhung !

We have just finished a 5 day trip from 31st December 2024 to 4th January. It was full of amazing sights activities and great food. We were so lucky with the weather and saw amazing Northern Lights Display and had breathtaking experiences throughout our stay. Aleksandra and Iceland Unlimited were amazing at understanding what we wanted to do. They were flexible with all aspects of our itinerary including making last minute changes. I would thoroughly recommend them to anyone thinking about a trip to this wonderful country. I travelled with 19, 16 yr old kids and my husband and we all said it was simply the most amazing place and our activities were superb. (Quad bikes, 4 wheel drive, glacier walk, golden circle, blue lagoon, sky lagoon etc).

The organisation was excellent - everything went absolutely perfectly. Aleksandra put together our dream trip and it was even more wonderful than I imagined. The company constantly stayed in touch, adjusting plans as necessary and we have all come home pleasantly exhausted and exhilarated. What an adventure!

This was an amazing trip for our family. Agata worked with me for months planning a full ADA accessible trip to Iceland, specifically to see the Northern Lights. It was amazing. We got to see them as well as many other amazing sights in Iceland. Our guide, Siggi, was awesome and made the trip so enjoyable. While we were in Iceland, there was an eruption that effected our ability to go to the Blue Lagoon. Agata quickly worked to change our reservation to the Sky Lagoon, which was a great experience. There was constant communication before and during the trip. Even after we returned, Agata worked with us gathering feedback about our trip and making sure we felt satisfied. I would 100 percent work with them again.

We recently visited Iceland together with some friends on a self drive tour organised by Iceland Unlimited. They put together an amazing itinerary for us together with a brilliant choice of accommodation along the way. Our thanks has to go to Aleksandra at Iceland Unlimited who looked after all of the arrangements right from the start to the extent of informing us of weather warnings whilst in country. we had a wonderful time there and want to visit again. no doubt we will be returning customers to Iceland Unlimited. which we highly recommend.

My husband and I have just completed a fantastic visit, our first, to the Faroe Islands. Travel Specialist, Agata Zuba put together a wonderful 11 Day self-drive tour for us which took us to 8 of the main islands that are part of the Faroe Island group. After a little email consultation, the itinerary she suggested for us captured our preferred style of travel and interests. It was very detailed and comprehensive such that we managed to do almost everything she recommended - plus we added a few extra stops. She also arranged all our accommodation, hire car and flights to and from the Faroes so travelling was made very easy. We had an absolutely amazing and thoroughly enjoyable time. We would highly recommend Agata and this agency. Thank you Agata (who incidentally kept our travel manager at home in the loop along the way).

Mona worked with me to arrange a suitable itinerary with accommodation meeting our requirements. She was very patient and helpful with suggestions and guidance, which is why you should go with a company like this.
We have done similar self drive trips in Namibia, Southern Patagonia, Costa Rica and Canada and so I am confident in saying that the attention to detail of Iceland Unlimited is second to none. All of the arrangements worked as expected and the detailed personalised itinerary was full of useful information that you would not have picked up on your own. The crowning highlight was the annotated and colour coded large map of Iceland in the welcome pack. It must have taken someone (presumably Mona) an age using different highlighter pens to show the main route and add alternatives ones as well as writing little tips along the way. It will be a great reminder of our trip, I might even frame it for my man cave!
If Iceland is on your list I would trust Iceland Unlimited to curate a great trip for you.

The customer service from Iceland Unlimited has been fantastic. From start of the planning of our trip to the very last day has been incredible. The staff has been very engaged and planned an amazing 4-day tour in the west country for us taking all our wishes into consideration.
The many additional tours to the Blue Lagoon and taxi rides were implemented fast despite very short notice from our side.

My wife has limited mobility, and so the most common tour options weren't going to work for us. Agata was able to take our vacation goals, and assemble a self-driving tour that hit the biggest high points within our time constraints, and take care of accessible lodging, and guide us to places we could enjoy within our mobility limits.

We are thinking of a trip to Iceland. From BOS and the NYC region of the USA all flights are overnight flights. I have not found a flight with seats that actually recline or convert to flat beds. Not even in first class or business class. Iceland Air told me that their business class seats only recline 6 inches. That is practically upright. If we don't sleep for 24 hours I doubt we will be in shape for a couple of days. Any suggestions where we could find day flights or seats that actually recline enough to catch real sleep on the overnight flight?

Thank you for your question.
In my personal experience as a wheelchair user who usually has difficulties sleeping on planes, I found it comfortable to travel on Saga Class on the overnight flights to Iceland despite the seats not reclining more back than 6 inches.
The seats are wide and comfortable and the staff is attentive and will provide pillows and blankets for the journey. I would also recommend that you booked an extra night the hotel before your arrival so that you can check in to your room right away to catch up on your sleep.
Otherwise you might have to wait until 2:00pm to get your room although you might get lucky and get an early check in without doing this but I wouldn't leave it up to chance.

Hi, can anyone who has travelled to Iceland in December advise us what sights are available for us to see as there is only 4 hours daylight. What have tourists done when there is not any natural daylight? Are museums open after the daylight hours have gone? Can we visit the Blue Lagoon & any other sites when day light has faded etc? Any tips on what to use for reasonably priced transport would be welcome. We do not drive. Thank you.

There are many activities available during this time of year but many of them are weather dependent so this one has to bear in mind when visiting Iceland in December. Luckily, there are more and more indoor activities becoming available, with FlyOver Iceland being the latest addition.
What we would recommend is the classic Golden Cirlcle tour, available in a scheduled bus tour or as a private tour that time of year.
We would also recommend a South Coast day tour (starts at 10:00am and ends at 16:00pm approx.) which can be done as a scheduled bus tour, a private tour or in a small group (super jeep tour etc.).
You can indeed visit the Blue Lagoon in the evening as it is open until 20:00pm.
Northern Lights tours are a must during this time of year and are widely and frequently available, should the Northern Lights predictions be favorable.

What is included in the price and what are the options? we will be Iceland from June 30 - July 7th and were told to do the golden circle tour 1 day and then a self drive tour of the south island we are looking for an active vacation and want to see the Ice Cave in Vilk along with great hiking

The price we paid includes the 6 day tour with a guide who doubles up as driver, comfort level hotel (at least 3 stars), breakfast, a glacier walk and a whale watching cruise. You can email them to tell them where/what you would like to do and see and the agent will try to recommend something.

I think this will depend on your personal preferences. My fiancee and I used an Iceland Unlimited self driving tour and absolutely loved it! We really enjoyed going at our own pace and not being chauffeured around in a giant bus with tons of people. We went in December and were there for New Year's Eve which definitely made driving challenging given the drastic (and quick!) change in weather but I was happier with my life being in my own hands instead of a bus drivers. We also go lost once or twice but what a country to get lost in! Everything is beautiful.
To add more, we did the "Northern Lights" tour which took us pretty far into the country which was amazing. We never did see the lights but it was still an amazing trip.

I am thinking of visiting Iceland on my own next Autumn, so I have lots of questions. Firstly, is it as expensive as I've been told - people have said I should have a budget of £1000 to cover entrance fees, car hire and food ?
What are driving conditions like when compared to the UK? I am an experienced driver, but as I shall be alone, would it be more sensible to use public transport if its available?
What's the weather like? Are there midges? Does it rain a lot? Is there a language problem (I speak French and German but can't see they'd be any use). I take it you can swim in these geothermal pools - what's the ettiquette here?
I could go on and on, but that will do for now! All suggestions welcome

What is the weather and feasibility of seeing the highlights (northern lights lagoon ) on a short stop over Dec 16th thru Dec 20th? These dates correspond to a return trip to the U.S. Should we skip in lieu of having more time on another date after New Years

This is a good question albeit a difficult one as the weather can be quite unpredictable during this time of year. The days are also short in December so that has to be taken into consideration. This is definitely doable with the time you have but you should be prepared for some surprises that the Icelandic nature (weather) might throw at you and which might affect your trip.
