Absolutely beautiful views. Was lucky enough to be there when the caretaker was doing some maintenance so he took a few of us on a guided tour up inside and onto the higher level to get a better view..it was amazing.

The Lighthouse area is open between Sunrise and Sunset to the general public, so please check your local weather app for Sugarloaf Point. If you wish to watch the sun setting from the light tower, be sure to arrive in time. The gate at the accommodation area is closed when the sun sets, to ensure "privacy" for the accommodated guests and for public safety. If you arrive when the sun has already set, you can visit the nearby scenic Sugarloaf headland for twilight viewing and to watch the lights of the tower.

Today I arrived at sugarloaf point lighthouse, driving from Canberra. And I arrive just in time for sunset when a older lady with a drink in her hand pulled out a sign to close off the lighthouse, then with a tipsy smile all went back to her friends to continue to get drunk and eat her precious cheeses. Was not happy since I have to leave the seals rocks caravan park tomorrow to home for work. Will never go again but if you can sneak up to the top of the stairs go for it.

This is the worst place I have ever visited. I came here with my family and friends 20-30 minutes before sunset to see the sunset at the iconic seal rock’s lighthouse and just as we walked up the hill to get to the gate the lady saw us shut the gate with people up at the lighthouse still and said “ The view is just as good around the corner so just go over there “ all I can say is that I am absolutely outraged and devastated as we have travelled from Spain to be here during an iconic Australian winter

Nice steep walk to reach an amazing view over the Sugarloaf point and Lighthouse beach and finally reach the old lighthouse. The access / entrance has a parking area for around 15 cars and includes an information board for the hike and nature around. We went up with a pram, quite difficult but we managed. It took us 1 hour to walk and enjoy the view for a return walk. In between the walk a public toilet is available and an access to the reach the beach. Worth to go.

Wow what a walk, long track to the base of the hill, then up a steep walkway and some stairs, then you have made it to the lighthouse. So worth the pain for the view. We even saw some dolphins off in the distance.

This lighthouse is possibly the prettiest that I have seen. Though not very tall, it's position is commanding. The walk from the car park is not too long, about 1 klm and it is quite stunning. There is the rainforest walk that is flat but curvy and onto the slight incline to the cottages. The steepest part is the incline is to the Lighthouse it's self, but it is worth the effort. Whether you are there to see whales, lounge on the beach or even stay at one of the cottages, you will not be disappointed. The cottages are well presented and in keeping with the time period but with a modern luxurious twist. The manager of the premises is very helpful and has a very good eye for detail. It is quite simply stunning.

I’m a fan of lighthouses and have hung off the balconies of structures right around Australia. This one doesn’t allow access to the top level and isn’t a tall commanding structure because it was built on the tall Sugarloaf Point to the east of Seal Rocks. On the way in, you’ll be gobsmacked by the rush of water through a fault line that forms a deep, U-shape rush beside you as you cross the narrow bridge between it and the long expanse of beach which runs south to Treachery Point. The climb up the hill is steep but there is a well placed seat just when you need some air. The light was finished in 1875, as were the two cottages for the mad buggers and their families who worked here. Standing in the skirted platform at the base of the light, the wind assaults you but in the most exhilarating way. Views in every direction take whatever breath you have left. 180 degrees of the Pacific Ocean give up Southern Wright and Humpback whales making their way north, sometimes breaching, sometimes playing. Sailing boats navigate the channels between a collection of keel crushing rocks that once destroyed more than 200 vessels, whilst further out, container megaships bump the horizon. Two White Bellied Sea Eagles soared overhead, turning a big circle as if we were the attraction, before zooming down the breeze and out of view. The cottages are for available for holiday letting, at premium prices but once experienced, you’ll never wake up to another view like this again. Well and truly worth the physical effort.

We hadn't been out to Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse for a while so it was nice to return and there were a couple of changes.
The view as you walk towards the lighthouse over the rocky inlets and tunnel has markedly improved. I was able to get a photo of the entire section of rugged rocky coastline.
The other thing that was new was a Coastal Snap stand was installed looking South over Lighthouse Beach. Citizens can be part of a global science network that uses their photos to monitor changing coastlines. What a great idea.
The views are always fabulous from the point and the walk out through the bush is also very nice.

Seal Rocks Lighthouse (Sugar Loaf Point Lighthouse) provided some of the most spectacular scenery north and south and is a must see if in the area. There is a walk of about 1 km in from the car park and the final section to the lighthouse is steep but worth the effort.
