Our three and a half hour cycle ride through Salzburg, visiting the places where the Sound of Music was filmed, was one of the best things I have ever done. Having been a fan of the film since I went to see it at the cinema when I was 4 year's old, to have the opportunity to visit all the places where it was filmed in Salzburg was a dream come true. It would not have been anywhere near as much fun without the wonderful Celeste as our cycle guide. She was funny, caring and full of interesting anecdotes from the film and what happened to the cast during filming - it was truly memorable and hugely interesting.
It was just lovely cycling through this beautiful city - sometimes through poppy fields and sometimes through the city itself. There was only a couple of times when we got off the bikes to walk up a steep hill, but the rest of the time the route was perfectly manageable, even if you are not a regular cyclist. The bikes had baskets on the front for your belongings, and there were stills from the film which showed where they were filmed in Salzburg. And the best thing of all - we got to play the soundtrack from start to finish and sing along at the top of our voices (well, I did) whilst cycling through this gorgeous city.
An absolute must if you are a Sound of Music fan. Thank you so much Celeste - we throughly enjoyed meeting you and do wish you well with your music career.

Fabulous tour. Our guide Stephen was great fun. We learnt loads about the film, the cast, the locations, the real Von Trapp family and even a bit of Saltzburg history. So glad we did this and not the coach tour. Easy cycling through some beautiful scenery and yes we were singing along to the sound track on route. If you love The Sound of Music and can ride a bike this tour is a must do. Absolutely loved it.

My family and I loved this tour! It was so fun and you saw so much of the city! Our tour guide was so knowledgeable and fun. The bikes were really comfortable and we had no problem with the actual biking part of the tour. Definitely a must if you’re visiting Salzburg!

So much fun! I’ve not been on a bike for almost 20 years so I was a little apprehensive but I needn’t have been! Only a small bit was uphill and it was easy to push for those bits. Otherwise it was flat and safe to drive.
Our guide, Hope, was superb. Not only was she mega knowledgeable about the film and Salzburg but she had so much energy and passion that it was infectious.
She also recommended “poses” to re-create the scenes from the film.
We also did a coach tour but I wish I hadn’t - this tour was by far the best. This is an absolute must for any fan of The Sound of Music. If you’re hesitating stop and just book!!!

I am a tour guide and did this beautiful scenic fun tour and can only recommend it. Franzi my tour guide made it so enjoyable. We got to see great locations of sound of music and information. It has nothing to do with a bus tour and you can do both what some of the guests also did.

Was absolutely the best part of our trip! Our guide Johan was so great! We had so much fun learning about where the movie was filmed, facts about the city and singing and pedaling the whole way! LOVED it!

Rode a tandem bike with a friend and had a wonderful time. Our guide Johanas was informative and entertaining. The scenery was beautiful. I highly recommend this tour.

We had a great time in beautiful Salzburg, but our bike tour with Maria's was the highlight. Our guide Elise was absolutly brilliant and knew everything there is to know about the Sound of Music and the von Trapps. Do-able by anyone who can ride a bike and so much better than sitting on a bus! Plenty of stops at key sites. If we visit Salzburg again we'll do the tour agian.

Thank you for our great cycling tour of Salzburg with our guide, Cole, last week. In spite of the threatening April weather, we all managed to stay dry and really enjoyed seeing the sites and especially loved singing along to the music along the way.
Cole was full of facts, from the film, as well as Salzburg and its history, and added extra interest as we cycled along on our Maria bikes with baskets.
I would definitely recommend this tour, even if you’re not a fan of the film, but especially if you are.

I would contact them , this can be done easily by email, etc through their website.
The website states April through October; however, We made advanced reservations with them and took our tour in March of this year

Do you bike in the same lane as cars while riding in the city, or are there designated bike lanes? I am an entry level bike, not sure if I am confident enough to ride in the city streets. Does the route involve riding in busy streets with cars and pedestrians? Thank you

Hello! We would like to go on the tour but will have our luggage (one heavy backpack per person) with us. Is there anywhere to safely and securely store it while we're on the tour?

I’m sorry but I don’t know this Answer. The bikes have a basket & it’s easy enough to have a back pack on your back I would think (unless it’s huge). Also if you are staying at a hotel they might keep the luggage for you

My family of 4 is coming to Salzburg in mid August, which is better do you think for a cooler ride the 9:30 am or 4:30 pm tour. We only have three days in the city and thought the afternoon might be better, but wanted your opinion which would seem less hot. Thank you.

I did the 09.30 tour last Monday and it was very hot. That day it rained very hard from 6.30 p.m. so my advice is to check the weather forecast very carefully. Although it might be hot at the start of the later tour, it is bound to be cooler for the second half.

We are bringing 75 yr old mom to salzburg and would love to do this tour-- how difficult is the ride ( not sure when the last time she was on a bike ?) Thank you

There’s a 1/4 mile stretch of the ride that has a steep uphill section. Most of the participants on our tour ended up walking it. Your Mom will be in good company walking her bike with others. The rest of the 8 miles on the ride are flat and easy. I’m sure you and your Mom will love the tour.
