Fantastic event. It was really informative and excellent value for money. My grandson who is 3 throughly enjoyed the ride whilst myself and my daughter enjoyed learning about the future of Raby and the sustainable farming. It made us proud to be a part of the local area and we look forward to future events.

Hope to be able to experience a tour of the estate through the different seasons.

A very happy customer

We had a nice-ish day but won't be returning.

The good- the physical quality of the play equipment was fantastic, loved everything made of wood etc. Brilliant. There's been some fantastic ideas executed in the building of the plotters forest, but not so much thought about practicality. The cafes/food areas were very clean and tidy. Toilets were clean. Staff were nice.

Please note I hate to be negative about anything but I absolutely know that days out with children can be so expensive and a sour taste will be left if it's a stressful day too so more informative than complaining. It may have been my fault for not reading enough about it before I came but I'll let you decide.

We were 4 adults and 4 (outgoing and keen playground going) children aged 3, 4, 5 & 5. Paid £45 to get into Plotters Forest + Deer Park. When we entered the car park there was one sign that said plotters forest car park was straight ahead, but nothing after that, so after walking to the entrance to be told to go back up, not a great start with 4 children... Anyway... Spoke to a lovely lady in the wooden hut when we got to right place, all rules explained etc, told that adults can go on everything too, which I liked the sound of as sometimes littles 3&4 need some help. The play frame was only just big enough for an adult in my opinion, and there Was high sections that were not visible/accessible from the ground so of adult did not go with Child, you lose sight of your child quite quickly! The section to get to the main slide was very odd, very congested, full of unaccompanied children pushing smaller ones out the way, there's a net tube thing to climb up to the top which as an adult, can't really get up. Bottom of the Slide is miles away too. I got so stressed my watch was giving me relax reminders. 5+5 managed to get to go down the slide but didn't want to go again and 3+4 we didn't even bother as they couldn't get up the net. Under 4s section was literally just a slide. We did the whole entire plotters forest in 15 minutes and most of that was waiting for a turn to get up the net into the slide. For me, as a play area, there isn't enough visibility for parents to keep an eye on children. Had a quick picnic and after realising I forgot my drink, got a San Pellegrino 330ml from the "plotters pantry" for £3! Littles were not enthused about going back round the playframes (given normally we can't get them out of parks/play areas!!) So we moved onto the deer park...

I've seen so much about plotters forest, adverts and whatnot and it looks fantastic but in reality, it was 15 minutes of stress.

Asked for tickets at the gate, showed the ones we had... Fab. Member of staff then said to our children, "are you going to have a ride on the tractor" to which they all replied yes and were excited.... No signage to tractor ride whatsoever. We had to ask someone. It arrived, lovely gentleman let us on the trailer, 5mins later a lady arrived and said it's bookings only and fully booked (I may have missed something obvious but absolutely didn't know it was to be pre booked) found it odd the entrance staff mentioned the tractor to the children when the ticket we showed was not for the tractor? No signage at all either, which I found odd.

The weather was beautiful but had it rained, there was no shelter at all, (not a particular complaint, just more of an observation)

Saw some beautiful deer in the grounds which was nice.

Beautiful setting, just found the execution of a relaxing family day out very poor.

We went to Broom House Farm at Durham with the same children/adult combination and found it much better value for money, much more relaxing for adults while children ran off steam within our sight and though we took a picnic both days, spent more money at Broomhouse on coffees etc sheerly because we stayed longer than we originally intended to.

I'm saddened about our day as I love To see the deer on site and the castle is just beautiful but sadly we won't be coming back. :(

Plotters Forest was far too small and as many people have said my children were wanting to leave after 1/2 hour. The photos look deceiving. Very well made, clean and user friendly but just not enough to do. Needs expanding to encourage people to return.
The Deer park was a nice walk around the castle.
One other observation, first time I’ve been in a castle shop with no shields/swords / knights things that the children could buy. Left without spending anything. Overpriced smellys, crockery and nicknacks.

Lovely day out spent as a family. Our little girl loved the plotters forest with all the climbing, squeezing, twisting and turning! It's just a shame other parents were sat down not supervising their kids - the amount of times our little girl almost got knocked over it kind of ruined the experience.

We visited the deer park & that was lovely seeing the deers in their natural environment running free. Other than the negative it was a lovely day out.

What an excellent castle visit. A perfect stop off on our way from home (near Inverness) and family (Norfolk). So very dog friendly, and a simply lovely castle. My 18 month year old daughter was in actual awe of the Barons Hall and the staff were particularly friendly.

I'm sad to say but plotters forest was a massive let down. OVERPRICED!!! I really appreciate the time, effort and money that has probably gone into this project. I feel bad for leaving such a negative review but we were beyond disappointed. It looks huge thought we would spend hours in it. Within 15 minutes we were done. We dragged it out for as long as possible with 40 minutes by going round continuously. Actually very little in it to do. The kids didn't get much out of it. I think for the price this has to be one of the biggest rip offs we have ever done. And we tend to visit as many places as possible so I like to think we have a lot to compare it to. My overall view is that Raby Castle is extremely expensive for what is on offer. Feel very ripped off with our overall experience here.

Had a lovely day out with the kids! Oldest is 8 and youngest is 5 we spend over an hour in the Plotters play area which was great. Plenty of challenges for the kids and adults can participate too! Oldest favourite was the fireman’s pole and the youngest the slide! We were able to grab a cuppa and a sit down whilst they continued exploring and building their confidence. We then went into the deer park where we did the Jubilee trial which was engaging for the kids and allowed us to have a decent walk without them moaning! There was also crown making in the crafts tent which was a great added bonus! We then stopped off in the yurt cafe to grab a chocolate cookie and a homemade sausage roll before heading home! We spent 4 hours there and all really enjoyed it the time seemed to fly by! Would highly recommend and is well worth the price for a day out for a family of four :)

Purely rating Plotters forest: massively overpriced, site nowhere as big as photo makes you believe, full circuit (one slide, one sliding pole, one beam) completed in 15 minutes, over £3 for a coffee. Severely limited access for wheelchairs/ prams (I’d actually say NOT suitable).
