Me and my daughter spent 2 hours just looking with Magnify glass. So much time and effort loved it. A real gem highly recommended

Interesting place for people with an artistic leaning. We spent about an hour here. Though some of the exhibits could bo with a fresh up.

This is a hidden little gem, on the bottom floor of a garden centre. Pure chance find, had never heard of it before. We were amazed by the exhibits. Enthralled at the detail.
This is only a 4* review rather than a 5* one as we felt it needed a little attention. Some information signs stated "recently" but the date was in the 2000s or the 2010s. Not all lighting was working, leaving a little downer of an impression. There were signs of a leak or similar so these all may be due to this. It just felt a little neglected to do full justice to the exhibits.
Also sadly, the art gallery exhibit with a painting laid on the floor and blu tack visible from other dropped/loose paintings, did leave a slight amateur feel to this. Please, these are not nit picky negativities, but creative criticisms to enable others to enjoy to the full.
It is still a worthy visit, which with a litttle care will be shown to their full worthiness.
Understandably no photography, which is the shame not to have those lasting reminders. There is a stand of postcards in the neighbouring craft department. But these feel dated and very few designs: perhaps just old stock/end of line..none tickled my fancy to have that reminder.

it is closed due to flood at the moment which is a big shame and apparently it is moving to a new location anyway so probably not worth the big trek getting there like i did (drive all the way to lands end to come here). reviews that mention being given a magnifying glass are dead wrong, you only get to borrow it. i borrowed it to look around the rest of the shop since the museum was closed but most things in there were of a decent size to look at with my eyes just plain. i only really went there to get a magnifying glass since mine unfortunately broke recently (see my review of winchester primark for more info) but they didn’t sell them, apparently the ones they have there are 15 years old. i was recommended to go to hobby craft for one which is only a small drive away. they didn’t really have what i was after but i got one of those eye glasses like they use on antiques roadshow

Very interesting little museum but unfortunately some of the illumination was not working properly but all in all it was still nice to see.

This is located in the basement of Houghton Hall Garden Centre and its definitely worth visiting here. As we entered, the staff gave us magnifying glass. There is so much details in the mini scale versions, that we were just amazed. Incredible skills of the people who made all these models.

A mind-blowing exhibition of things in miniature. The level of skill and craftsmanship is astounding! My wife and I came away with our heads buzzing.
An absolute must and worth much more than the £2.50 entry fee. The garden center where it is housed is very good also.
The best ten pounds worth we have ever had and it only costs two pounds fiffty, what a find.

This little gem is easy to miss. Placed in the basement of a garden centre with not a lot of signage to direct you there.
I fortunately found it purely by looking at things to do on trip advisor while spending a few days in Carlisle.
We had a spare afternoon one day so went for it.
Ridiculously inexpensive for admission, we spent at least two hours looking at the rooms.
It is amazing, with so much detail on the minuscule objects. I’m sure we probably missed things as there are so many tiny things to spot. In particular, look out for the sweet seller. The detail is incredible.
If close by, make the visit a must!!!

Easy to get to and not expensive to get in. Some amazing models by real craftspeople. Currently the signage/settings need some TLC but that doesn’t detract too much from the exhibits. Took us an hour or so to look around. Nice that the entrance fee includes use of a magnifying glass … because they are needed to see the details.

What a lovely little find this place was. Entry was only £2.50 each you get given a magnifying glass to see all the miniature details theres a lot of miniatures to look at from miniature rooms, shops and workshops clothes and the smallest teddy bear in the world look carefully as it looks like a speck of fluff till you look at it under the magnifying glass. Its on the basement level and well worth an hour or so of your time.

Is it on a bus route from Carlisle centre. We are arriving by train so won’t have a car.

Yes there is a bus stop just outside. It is located at Houghton Hall Garden Centre so you can find the bus route for there
