Nice theatre but chairs need update

We went to watch the performance (peter pan goes wrong). The atmosphere of theatre was nice but the chairs could be very discomforting to sit for longer. That need to update.

The staff is great. There was a volunteers who are deaf and able to communicate with us. Couldn’t fault that one!

Wolverhampton Grand theatre Chitty chitty bang bang.

Thanks for the feedback, SeanMidnight. We can confirm that all of our seats were replaced during the £1.5million front of house and auditorium refurbishment in 2016. The company we used specialises in theatre seating and their remit was to provide comfortable and durable seating for our patrons. Please note that we periodically check them for wear and tear, and replace them when needed. We hope to welcome you again soon.

Watched Annie the musical last night!!!! Absolutely fabulous! Security lovely. Bar staff very friendly. Theatre beautiful and very clean and comfortable. The show was fantastic.

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL

The security staff are extremely rude. My family were hounded all night by the same guard who decided he wanted to disrespect my two elderly aunties and mother. Initially, he argued with my mother at the door as she did not understand e-tickets. He grabbed her phone out her hand without warning and patronised them, commenting they were too old. He refused my 80 year old auntie to sit down before he looked at their tickets. They needed the toilet at the end of the show, they found themselves in the same elevator as this bouncer, who said he was not stopping at the floor with toilets as he needed to get to the 2nd floor first. My aunt then said we all need the toilet, so we're stopping at them. He then said that she "better wash her hands" and that old people always get their own way. The staff as a whole are rude. But this man in particular seemed to hound my family and made them feel extremely uncomfortable and patronised. It ruined my aunts birthday present. I am extremely angry at the behaviour they had to endure. If you want to enjoy a night of theatre DO NOT COME HERE. YOU WILL BE MADE TO FEEL STUPID AND INFERIOR. AWFUL PLACE.

Great Production

Thanks for the feedback, 703jaynev. Our product portfolio is constantly reviewed and amended based on a number of factors. We also regularly speak to our patrons to determine the preferred product lines to stock and if there is sufficient demand for certain items, we try to ensure these are available. As we are a theatre, we are unable to have a multitude of product lines and therefore we are limited to what is available. However, I can confirm that we do have bottled ales available on all bars. Great theatre

I go to The Grand several times a year. I’m always happy to be there. Staff are pleasant and helpful, there is parking nearby and transport links are excellent. Drinks prices are on a par with local establishments. Facilities are always clean.

Whilst I have over 400 reviews on trip advisor, until now I have never reviewed a theatre. My experience tonight dictated that I do.

We visited tonight to see “greatest days” which was…..great actually, but tainted by the ridiculous pricing of drinks inside the theatre. On arrival we went to the bar to get a pre show drink and also order one for the interval. This may sound a trivial compliant but over £6 for a small bottle of mixer sold in a supermarket for under a quid ??. Two drinks and the same for the interval plus a programme came to a little under £40. Add that to the £55 per ticket and it is no wonder that there were many empty seats for the show.
In a previous review someone commented on the price of drinks and the response suggested that they were in line with other entertainment venues. I’m sorry but £6 is just plain and simple profiteering on an epic scale.

The grand is a great theatre. We visit a couple of times a year or more depending on what is on at the time. After this we will be stopping across the road for a much cheaper pre show drink where value for money comes before profit. Shame on you the grand, Wolverhampton needs all the help it can get to keep the “city” alive.

Thanks for the review, coleman. We can confirm that our prices are checked against other entertainment venues, and are in line with other local and regional theatres. The price of a mixer at our venue is £3 for a small bottle or £1 for a dash if dispensed. Our house programme is £5, with the souvenir brochure (produced by the touring company) at £10. Ticket prices will vary depending upon the date/time of the performance. Prices also vary depending on where you sit. Please note that there are numerous eateries and public houses/bars in close proximity if our portfolio is not suitable. We hope to welcome you again soon.

Lovely theatre!

Came last night for the Michael Mcintyre show with my husband, his guide dog and my son. First time we'd had bought his dog to a show so a little apprehensive. After a tricky start getting tickets all those months ago we found ourselves in great seats down near the front. One of the seats was a wheelchair space but was assured there would be a seat there, which there wasn't. One of the front of house assistants got us a seat though so no problem. Plenty of room for the dog beside/in front of us but until the show started we needed to keep her pulled in close as the front two rows needed to walk past us. Most people were accepting of her, some didn't seem very happy about having to go past her, but my husband and her had just as much right to be there as they were. The theatre is lovely, it is old, the seats are small and narrow but that's what adds to the atmosphere. Just look up at the ceiling to remember that. Show was great and prices were reasonable. The disabled toilet has a sign on it saying it's inclusive, everyone can use it...which they did. Surely the disabled toilet should be used by people with disabilities (visable or non visable), can non disabled people not use the other toilets? Other than that, all was good, an enjoyable evening!

Has anyone sat in the restricted view seats in row L in the stalls computer wouldn't show any info until I paid for them then it told me they were restricted I'm taking a four year old and eleven year old and am now worried they might not be able to see
